Reasi residents asked to stay away from Chenab for two days

The authorities in Reasi district of Jammu region have asked people not to venture near Chenab River from June 14 to 15 in view of the periodic silt flushing from a water reservoir.

"The General Manager, Salal Power Station Jyotipuram, Reasi, has asked the people of the area not to venture near Chenab river on June 14 and 15 in view of periodical silt flushing from the reservoir," an official spokesperson said here today.

He said that it is intimated that for silt flushing from reservoir at Salal Power Station, the gates shall be opened on tomorrow at 8 am and will remain open till June 15, 8 am.
 

"As a result there will be increase in flow of water and level of river Chenab may increase. Therefore, the general public of the area is informed that in order to avoid any mishap they should take proper care while moving near banks of river Chenab during this period," he said.
