Rs. 30 crore allotted for 'Mission XI Million' in 2016-17

The government has allocated Rs. 30 crore during the current financial year for effective implementation of the 'Mission XI Million' programme, Sports Minister Vijay Goel has said in the Lok Sabha.

The 'Mission 11 million', a football initiative aimed at taking the game to 12,000 schools in 30 cities across the country was set rolling by Goel and All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel in the capital last month.

There will be seminars for teachers, school activities and football festivals till September, as a prelude to the Under-17 World Cup scheduled to be staged in the country in October.
 

While informing the Parliament about the FIFA U-17 World Cup and 'Mission XI Million' programme, Goel, in a written reply said, "The programme is aimed at associating at least 11 million students, parents, coaches, teachers etc by way of holding workshops, seminars, contact programmes, competitions etc.
