Thane revenue employees to go on indefinite strike from August

A union representing 800 employees of the Thane district revenue department annnounced here today that they would go on an indefinite strike from August 1, after the new district of Palghar comes into being.

Talking to PTI here today, Thane Zilla Mahasul Karmachari Sanghatana executive president Bhaskar Ghavale said that in 2013, revenue department employees had gone on strike, after which the government assured that their demands would be looked into.

Though the strike was called off, the government did not do anything regarding long pending demands.

He said that as preparation to the August 1 strike, employees began a "pen down" strike from July 14, 2014.
 

In a related development, the Maharashtra government is all set to appoint present commissioner of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani as officer on special duty to oversee official work at Palghar district and he may also named as the district's first collector.
