Theft case accused 'jumps' down from first floor of court

A man, arrested on theft charges, was injured when he allegedly jumped from the first floor of a court complex here while being taken back to prison today.

Ruben Raj, alleged involved in stealing needles from government hospitals and drug stores, was being brought out of the court after Magistrate Kannan remanded him to 14 days judicial custody when he allegedly pushed the escorting police personnel and jumped down from the first floor, police said.

Raj suffered serious injuries and frothed before becoming unconscious.

He was rushed to the government hospital here and admitted to the intensive care unit, police said.
