Three arrested for trying to loot police car in Haryana

Three persons allegedly made an attempt to loot a police car in Rewari district after they mistook it to be a private vehicle following which the trio were arrested, police said today.

The police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges and two iron bars from their possession, a spokesman of the police department said here today.

He said that the accused tried to loot a car of Dharuhera police while they were patrolling at Dharuhera yesterday.

The police had earlier received information that some suspicious persons were roaming in the area.

"As per the information, police removed the beacon light of their car and reached the spot where the accused tried to loot the car mistaking it to be a private car, but the police officers in the car nabbed the accused.
 

"During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had committed a loot of eight tyres of a truck near Banipur chowk (Rewari) on the night of April 26," he said.

The accused have been identified as Jaan Mohammad, a resident of Ghasera village; Jamshed, a resident of Sirohi village and Sukhram, a resident of Alampur, Faridabad.

Police today produced the accused before a court in Rewari district and took them in police remand for four days.
