Village pradhan shot dead

The pradhan of a village in the

district here was shot dead this evening by unidentified assailants, police said.

According to Musafirkhana Circle Officer Sumit Shukla, the pradhan of Mahemau village, Jahoor Ahmad, 52, was returning home from the market when some unidentified motorcycle-borne persons shot him and fled.

The injured Ahmad was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead, Shukla said, adding that SP Hira Lal has reached the spot and was overseeing efforts for nabbing the culprits.
