2 Adb-Sponsored Highway Project Contracts Awarded

The Bihar project, a Rs 145-crore contract on National Highway no. 2, was awarded to an Indo-Malaysian joint venture between SDNBGD Malaysia, PATISDNBSD Malaysia and Hyderabad-based B Seeniah & Co.
The Andhra Pradesh project, a Rs 59-crore contract on National Highway no. 9, was awarded to public sector company Bridge & Roof.
The National Highway-2 project involves 4 laning of the stretch between Barwa Adde and Barakar (km 398.75 to km 441.44), including strengthening of the existing 2-lane pavement.
The National Highway-9 project involves strengthening of the existing 2-lane pavement between Nandigama and Vijaywada (km 217 to km 265), including 4 laning between km 252 to km 265.
NHAI has also recently issued, upon court permission, the award of a formal contract to the Birla-GTM joint venture for the National Highway 8 project which is currently under litigation. The NHAI decision in this case was challenged by Gammon India in the Delhi High Court. The hearing has been completed and the order reserved for December. This project in Haryana and Rajasthan, involves 4-laning and strengthening of the 2-lane pavement between Gurgaon (Haryana) and Kotputli in Rajasthan (km 36.63 to km 162.50). NHAI has decided to file an appeal before a division bench of the Delhi High Court against an earlier order by a single judge quashing the bid acceptance of another Indo-Malaysian joint venture for a Rs 146.44 crore contract on National Highway no. 5 in Andhra Pradesh.
This project had earlier been awarded by NHAI to Madhu Continental Construction Bina Puri Holdings for strengthening of the existing 2- lane pavement between Vijaywada and Eluru (km 3.4 to km 53.8 and km 69.2 to km 75) including 4-laning between km 3.4 to km 13 and a bypass for Eluru Town (km 53.8 to km 69.2).
