Bat Overture To Join Forces With Fis

BSCAL

The new approach is different in that BAT "earlier tended to do things on our own", feels the British tobacco major.

Speaking to Business Standard from London, BAT official spokesperson Michael Prideaux said his company had not received any formal communication from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), but if such a request was made, "we will cooperate with them". On management control, however, BAT is sounding more confident than it has ever before.

Asked what he thought the government view was, Prideaux said: "The government does have a view, and it has been communicated to the FIs".

Asked why the relationship with the FIs had improved, Prideaux said: "Earlier we had tended to do things on our own."

The BAT representatives who are coming to India will discuss the present situation two days from now.
