Digital Arm To Look After S Asia Work

Digital Equipment (India) Ltd will now handle Digital USAs operations in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal due to a shift of management from Digitals Singapore subsidiary to India. Digital India, a subsidiary of Digital Equipment Corporation of the US, will now be the corporate headquarters for all regions in the south Asian block. Som Mittal, managing director, Digital India, will also head these regional operations.

According to Bobby Choonavala, president, Digital Equipment Corporation, Asia Pacific, and chairman, Digital India, the information technology markets in these countries have much in common with India. This is expected to significantly improve Digitals market share in south Asia, he said.

 

Digital already has tie-ups with leading distributors like Digtek Sri Lanka, CITech Corporation and Digitech and Computerland, Nepal.Digital India markets and services the complete range of Digital products in India, ranging from the high-end Alpha workstations and servers to the Intel-based PC range.

It is also a technology provider to Videsh Sanchar Nigam for GIAS, providing turnkey solutions for countrywide Internet access based on its Alphaservers.
