Egurucool In Talks With Vcs For More Funds

egurucool.com, an education portal, is in talks with venture capital firms abroad to raise a second round of capital.
The portal, hosted on to the Web in November last, raised the first tranche of Rs 10 crore from Chrisalis Capital this February . "We need money to promote the portal by improving the technology and content", said Vivek Agarwal, chief executive of Learning Universe, the company which has set up the portal.
egurucool.com has tied up with 50 schools all over the country to provide Web services like creating Web pages for the schools, facilitating on-line homework for students, preparation of notes, on-line admission applications etc. "Till now, we provided free service for the schools and from this quarter we begin charging them ",Vivek told Business Standard.

The portal ran a 24-hour online help desk for the students appearing for their annual examinations from February 15 to March 31. "We received nearly 25,000 queries from students and necessary guidance was provided to them online," said Vivek.
The idea behind the portal is to improve the communication between the school, the student and the teacher. We wish to introduce latest developments in pedagogey, instruction tools and teaching methodologies and thus create a situation where all the students in the country will get best learning support, said Vivek.
The site offers distance learning programs for IIT-JEE, GMAT and engineering, medical entrance examination preparation. Apart from on-line preparation modules it also provides inputs to students who want to pursue studies abroad. Other features include career guidance, personality development and extra curricular activities.
