Middle Path

I might be wrong but I sincerely feel that India and its policy makers are in the habit of not taking sides, wherever and whenever a conflict arises. As a result it neither offends nor pleases any one. It always prefers to take the middle path when two (or more) roads are available.

Consider the Constitution. At the time of independence we were faced with a number of options with regard to the kind of political system that we should adopt in a democracy, like the US, and the erstwhile USSR, and a monarchy like the UK. We chose neither and yet all of them. We chose to be a sovereign socialistic secular democratic republic
