Parties Seek Laloo'S Dismissal

Sixteen Left and centrist parties today submitted a memorandum to state Governor A R Kidwai, demanding the dismissal of the Laloo Prasad Yadav government and imposition of President's rule to ensure free and fair trial of Yadav in the multi-crore-rupee fodder scam.
A rally was taken out on the streets of the state capital by the Left and centrist parties before submitting the memorandum to the Governor. The memorandum also demanded the Governor to sanction prosecution of Yadav and 55 other accused in the fodder scan by the CBI. The CBI has found prima facie evidence against the Chief Minister and others in the scam.
The memorandum felt that it was necessary to dismiss Yadav as the Chief Minister to ensure that his trial is not influenced. Every one is equal before the law, why should then Yadav be an exception. the memorandum pointed out.
The memorandum pointed out that Yadav not only failed to check the plunder of state exchequer but he also extended patronage to the mafia involved in the fodder scandal. The Left and centrist parties have threatened to intensify their agitation if the Chief Minister does not resign before May 15, 1997.
