Quorum Delays Ls Session

The over 540-member Lok Sabha had to wait for 15 minutes yesterday for a minimum of 54 members to collect to start its proceedings. With the Finance Bill passed on Thursday, and the next two days being a weekend members seemed to have lost interest in Parliament proceedings.
There were merely 35 members in the House when the Lok Sabha was to sit after lunch at 2 pm _ 26 on the Treasury Benches and nine on the Opposition.
After repeated bells of quorum, some responded and when a head count was taken at 2.10 pm, there were 36 from the ruling National Democratic Alliance and 14 from the Opposition.
At 2.13 another head count was taken. On finding 53 in the House minister of state for parliamentary affairs Santosh Gangwar declared that the House could sit as there was quorum.
