Space Hinders Calcutta Water Re-Use Projects

Internationally known water reuse expert James Crook said yesterday that water reuse projects were not feasible in Calcutta due to the lack of space. He said though such projects were effective in general in warm climates, the problem with having such a project in Calcutta was low availability of space.
Crook was speaking at a workshop on Industrial Wastewater Recycle and Reuse, organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, United States-Asia Environmental Partnership, Calcutta and Indian Environmental Association -Calcutta Chapter.
"However, the degree of water reuse is possibly far higher in India than in the United States", Crook said.
