Turnover Dips As Calls Stay High

The turnover was Rs 43.51 crore, lower than Tuesday's figure of Rs 45.66 crore.
With call rates firming up, no trading was reported in the 91-day treasury bills. However, a few deals were struck in the 364-day treasury bills. The one-year paper maturing on January 17 was dealt for Rs 5 crore at a price of Rs 96.32. The deal, to be settled after one day, was struck at a yield of 11.60 per cent.
Another deal was conducted in the 364-day treasury bill maturing on January 31 for Rs 5 crore. The deal, to be settled after one day, was struck at a yield of 11.65 per cent.
The 13.50- per cent central government security maturing in 1997. A Rs 10-crore deal was struck in the security at 13.21 per cent. This was followed by another deal in the same security for Rs 5 crore .
