BS Reporter Mumbai/ Pune
City-based Accelera Systems has launched its DSR series of appliances for the disk-based back-up solutions.

Announcing the launch, Monish Shah, chief executive officer of Accelera Systems, said the disk-to-disk (D2D) back-up solutions were becoming popular since it was faster and convenient, compared with conventional tape-based back-up solutions.

The DSR series back-up solutions were not only cost-effective but also very efficient in terms of the speed with which the back-up is taken and the data is restored, he added. Its capacity ranges from 500 gigabytes to two terabytes and is priced between Rs 89,000 and Rs 2,50,000 depending upon the product specifications. Besides, back-up of multiple desktops/laptops can be taken simultaneously.

The DSR series is equipped with 'StorSecure 300' card developed by Indra Networks, Inc, the parent company of Accelera Systems.

The 'StorSecure 300' card has a unique combination of compression and encryption engine. Compression engine compresses the data, which effectively doubles the storage space, and encryption engine secures the data residing on disk or tape.

Accelera Systems embeds EMC Retrospect back-up and recovery software in the DSR series appliances. EMC Corporation is a leader in products, services and solutions for storage and information management.

The company has invested close to Rs 3 crore in developing the DSR Series of appliances and now plans to sell it in the Indian market by appointing value added resellers (VARs) across the country.

The company has targeted to have 20 VARs by the end of 2007. It has already appointed Beegees Computers Pvt Ltd in Mumbai and would be selling in the Pune market on its own.
