With Indian telecommunications sector witnessing a fast pace of growth, US-based Centillium Communications, a provider of broadband access solutions, is betting big on the country for growth. The company launched two broadband access solutions for the Indian market.

Centillium's products include mixed-signal integrated circuits and related hardware and software applications for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and Optical Networking equipment deployed in central offices and customer premises, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) products for carrier and enterprise class gateways and consumer telephony.

"India is a sleeping market when it comes to broadband. We see a tremendous opportunity for growth in India as broadband telephony is set to expand in a big way. We will continue our focus on India," Faraj Aalaei, CEO, Centillium Communications, said.

Japan is the biggest market for the $65 million company. It accounts for 45 per cent of the revenue with the rest of Asia generating about 30 per cent. "India holds a lot of promise. We are strengthening our business partnership network in India to introduce more products," he added.

Centillium, with a worldwide staff strength of 300, has operations in France and US. Its largest campus is located in Bangalore where 150 professionals work on multiple disciplines such as system architecture, analog integrated circuit (IC) design, System on Chip digital IC design and digital signal processing.

"It has full participation in all our R&D programmes. The Bangalore campus covers disciplines required of a full-fledged standalone company," Aalaei stated.
