The IPL 2025 mega auction concluded with all ten franchises making strategic moves to strengthen their squads. However, with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 players allowed in each team, several franchises still have room to add players before finalising their squads. Here's a breakdown of the remaining purse and player compositions across the teams.

CSK Leads in Remaining Purse Among Full Squads

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged from the auction with the largest remaining purse among teams nearing the maximum squad size. With Rs 13.20 crore left and 13 players already secured, including five overseas stars, CSK has flexibility to complete their squad while targeting impactful players in the next auction round.

RCB and MI Focus on Depth

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) holds the highest remaining purse at Rs 14.15 crore, with 11 players on their roster, including three overseas players. RCB will likely focus on filling key gaps in their squad as they aim to secure at least four more players to meet the minimum squad requirement.

Mumbai Indians (MI), with Rs 11.05 crore remaining and 12 players, have three overseas slots filled. Their strategy is expected to involve adding versatile all-rounders and backup bowlers.

Delhi Capitals in Tight Budget Scenario

Delhi Capitals (DC) are the most constrained in terms of budget, with just Rs 3.80 crore remaining after filling 15 slots, including five overseas players. DC will need to be highly selective in their additions to maintain balance and depth in their squad.

Other Teams Balancing Squads

  • Gujarat Titans: With Rs 11.90 crore and 16 players (4 overseas), Gujarat Titans have room to add more overseas players to balance their squad.
  • Lucknow Super Giants: LSG has Rs 6.85 crore left with 13 players (4 overseas). They will likely focus on domestic talent to complete their roster.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR has Rs 8.55 crore in the bank and 14 players, including six overseas stars. They are well-placed to add a mix of domestic and international players.
  • Punjab Kings: With Rs 10.90 crore and 15 players, Punjab Kings already have a balanced core of five overseas players and might focus on strengthening their bowling.
  • Rajasthan Royals: Rajasthan Royals, with Rs 6.65 crore and 13 players (4 overseas), will aim to bolster their domestic lineup.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad: SRH has Rs 5.15 crore and 13 players. With limited funds, they will need to prioritise specific areas for improvement.
