Malaysia Airlines inks initial pact with IndiGo for codeshare partnership

Malaysia Airlines has inked an initial pact with domestic no-frills carrier IndiGo for a codeshare partnership to boost connectivity between the two countries. Moreover, a cooperation agreement between the two airlines will enable both carriers to provide customers with more options and flexibility for seamless travel between Malaysia and India, IndiGo said in a statement. Through this cooperation, Malaysia Airlines will be able to strengthen its connectivity with India, as the marketing carrier on IndiGo operated flights, while IndiGo customers will get to explore more Southeast Asia destinations through Malaysia Airlines' extensive network, it said. This reciprocal arrangement will allow both carriers to provide seamless connections to their customers, besides enabling them to enjoy an integrated travel itinerary among other facilities, IndiGo said. Malaysia Airlines currently operates 71 weekly flights to nine key hubs in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, .

Domestic air traffic rises 4.8% to 12.64 mn in Feb, 155K faced delays

Domestic air traffic rose 4.8 per cent on an annual basis to 126.48 lakh in February, while more than 1.55 lakh passengers were affected by flight delays during the same period, according to official data released on Friday. In February, Air India's market share rose to 12.8 per cent from 12.2 per cent while that of IndiGo marginally dipped to 60.1 per cent from 60.2 per cent in January. The domestic air traffic climbed to 126.48 lakh in February compared to 120.69 lakh in the year-ago period, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said. However, the traffic was less than 1.31 crore reported in January. "Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January - February 2024 were 257.78 lakh, as against 246.11 lakh during the corresponding period of the previous year thereby registering an annual growth of 4.74 per cent and monthly growth of 4.80 per cent," DGCA said. IndiGo passenger finds worm in sandwich served on flight, airline responds

An IndiGo passenger found a worm in a sandwich served onboard a flight from the national capital to Mumbai, and a video was shared on social media, following which the airline apologised and said the matter is under thorough examination. The incident happened onboard flight 6E 6107 from Delhi to Mumbai on Friday. The woman passenger Kushboo Gupta shared on Instagram a short video of the worm in the sandwich onboard the flight. When contacted for comments on the video, an airline spokesperson said the airline is aware of the concern raised by one of its customers regarding the experience on flight 6E 6107 from Delhi to Mumbai. "Upon investigation, our crew had immediately ceased the service of the specific sandwich in question. The matter is currently under thorough examination, and we are working closely with our caterer to ensure appropriate corrective measures are taken.
