Voter list revision drive milestone in making of Indian democracy: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has said the voter list revision drive in Bihar was a "purification" exercise and a milestone in the making of Indian democracy. Addressing the gathering at IIT-K on its foundation day on Sunday, the CEC said "the world's biggest voter list purification exercise was conducted in Bihar alone and once the drive is extended to 51 crore voters in 12 states, it will mark a historic achievement for the Election Commission and the nation". PM Modi to address public rallies, attend mega roadshow in Bihar today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address public rallies and attend a roadshow in Bihar on Sunday. The PM will address public rallies in Ara and Nawada and will attend a 'mega roadshow' in Patna. Elections to the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11. In the first phase, 121 assembly segments will go to the polls. This will be the third roadshow in Patna by the PM since last year's Lok Sabha polls. Modi had held a roadshow earlier this year, soon after 'Operation Sindoor'. Police arrests JD(U) candidate Anant Singh over Jan Suraaj worker's death

Bihar Police on Sunday arrested don-turned-politician Anant Kumar Singh, popularly known as Chhote Sarkar, in connection with the death of Jan Suraaj supporter Dular Chand Yadav during election campaigning in Mokama three days ago. The JD(U) candidate, who is contesting the election as a NDA nominee, was arrested by the police from his house in Mokama in the wee hours on Sunday. Talking to PTI, Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma confirmed his arrest. He, however, refused to divulge further details. Yadav died while campaigning for Jan Suraaj Party's candidate Piyush Priyadarshi in Patna's Mokama area on Thursday. The incident had taken place close to the Bhadaur and Ghoswari police stations in Mokama area. The police registered four FIRs in connection with the incident. Anant Singh has been named as an accused along with four others in one of the FIRs, registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the grandson of the deceased.

Priyanka confident of INDIA bloc's win in Bihar, slams NDA's poll promises

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday dismissed promises made by the ruling NDA in poll-bound Bihar and exuded confidence that the INDIA bloc will win the assembly elections. RJD's Manoj Jha writes to EC, accuses Bihar govt of MCC violation

RJD MP Manoj Jha wrote to the Election Commission (EC) on Friday, accusing the Bihar government of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by transferring money to women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on October 17, 24 and 31. Jha also said the next proposed date for disbursement is November 7 -- four days before the second phase of polling in Bihar.
