Eight independent candidates, including four BJP rebels, have won in the Rajasthan assembly elections. Among them is Chandrabhan Aakya who was replaced by the BJP with a relative of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in Chittorgarh but contested on his own. Aakya, the sitting MLA from Chittorgarh, defeated his closest rival Congress' Surendra Singh with a margin of 6823 votes. BJP's Narpat Singh Rajvi, a five-time MLA, secured the third position. Ahead of the polls, BJP had replaced Aakya with Narpat Singh Rajvi, the son-in-law of former vice president late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, shifting him from Jaipur's Vidhyadhar Nagar. Rajvi's constituency was changed because Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari was fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar. Diya Kumari won the seat by 71,368 votes. Twenty of the 50 women candidates emerged victorious in Rajasthan on Sunday, with their strength in the House marginally going down as compared to the outgoing assembly. Of the winning women candidates, nine each were from the BJP and the Congress and two were Independents. There were a total of 50 women candidates in the fray this time, 20 fielded by the BJP, 28 by the Congress and two Independents. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar defeated the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Balveer Singh Dandotiya by 24,461 votes in Dimani in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls. Tomar is among the three Union ministers who were fielded in the Assembly polls by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Tomar held different posts before becoming the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in 1991. In 1998 and 2003, Tomar was elected from Gwalior Assembly seat and became a cabinet minister in the state government. He was appointed the state BJP president in 2006 and was on the post again between 2012 and 2014. Tomar was elected to the Lok Sabha from Morena in 2008 and again from Gwalior in 2014 and was made a minister in the Narendra Modi government. He won the general elections in 2019 from Morena and was once again made a minister at the Centre.

Madhya Pradesh leader of opposition Govind Singh lost from the Lahar seat in the Bhind district by 12,397 votes against BJP's Ambrish Sharma. Singh, a Congress leader since 1993, had won from Lahar seven times in a row. A close associate of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, the LoP polled 62,950 votes, while BJP's Sharma emerged as the winner with 75,347 votes. Of the 230 seats in the state, the BJP has so far won 129 and is leading in 35 constituencies, according to the latest data shared by the Election Commission.
