Shares of Yes Bank zoomed 30 per cent in morning trade Thursday after the company said that the RBI has not found any divergence in the asset classification and provisioning done by the lender during 2017-18. The shares after opening the day on a positive note further skyrocketed 28.95 per cent to Rs 218 on BSE. At NSE, shares rose sharply by 29.97 per cent to Rs 220.25. Shares of the company were the biggest gainer on both the indices during the morning trade. Following the sharp jump in its shares, the company's market valuation jumped by Rs 8,590.52 crore to Rs 47,714.21 crore on BSE. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) assesses compliance by banks with extant prudential norms on income recognition, asset classification and provisioning (IRACP) as part of its supervisory processes. Nickel prices fell 0.09 per cent to Rs 876 per kg Thursday after traders trimmed their holdings amid easing demand at the spot market. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the February contract of nickel was trading lower by 80 paise, or 0.09 per cent, at Rs 876 per kg in a business volume of 1,276 lots. Marketmen said offloading of positions by participants due to slackened demand from alloy makers at the spot market weighed on nickel futures here.
Zinc prices went up 0.16 per cent to Rs 185.60 per kg Thursday as speculators built up fresh positions, supported by improved demand at the domestic spot market amid positive global cues. Zinc for delivery in February contract edged higher by 30 paise, or 0.16 per cent, at Rs 185.60 per kg in a business turnover of 1,547 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders on pick up in demand from consuming industries in the domestic physical market, drove the upward trend in zinc prices at futures trade here.
Edelweiss Group Thursday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of Singapore to form a strategic partnership to provide clients of both entities the opportunity to access their respective product platforms. "This is the first time that an Indian wealth manager of Edelweiss' size and stature is partnering with an offshore private bank," Edelweiss Financial Services said in a BSE filing. Bank of Singapore had previously signed similar strategic partnerships with two financial institutions one from Japan and another from Switzerland. Shares of Edelweiss Financial Services were trading 2.94 per cent lower at Rs 123.80 apiece on BSE.

Gold prices slipped by 0.32 per cent to Rs 32,905 per ten gram in futures trade Thursday after traders booked profits. However, a firm trend overseas capped the fall in prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month April drifted lower by Rs 106, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 32,905 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 909 lots. In a similar manner, the March contract of gold fell by Rs 102, or 0.31 per cent, to quote at Rs 32,807 per 10 gram, in a business turnover of 965 lots. Analysts said profit-booking by traders at existing levels led to the fall in gold prices but a better trend overseas, limited the losses. Globally, gold was up 0.15 per cent at Rs 1,308.80 an ounce in New York.
