Initiatives taken by the textiles ministry has led to registering of case by the CBI against six officials of the office of Textile Commissioner, Navi Mumbai relating to fraudulent claim of subsidy, a senior government official said. Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal gave its approval for detailed CBI investigation into the case following the "zero tolerance policy" against corruption. The CBI, according to the reports, has registered a case against the six officials and six Bhiwandi-based suppliers for allegedly claiming subsidies worth about Rs 6.5 crore in a fradulent manner. The subsidies were meant for power-loom sector for modernisation. The accused had used fake stamp papers to claim these subsidies. "The ministry had informed the CBI about the irregularities observed in the implementation of in-situ upgradation scheme for plain power looms by Textile Commissioner," the official added. The CBI on Friday conducted searches at the premises of former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede after filing an FIR against him and four others for allegedly seeking Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case, officials said. Aryan Khan was arrested in an alleged drug bust case on the Cordelia cruise ship on October 2, 2021, they said. The NCB, which had filed a charge-sheet in the drugs-on-cruise case, gave a clean chit to Aryan Khan, while an SIT set up by the anti-drugs agency claimed the probe led by Wankhede had lapses. They said the searches were spread across 29 locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur. The CBI on Friday conducted searches at seven locations including the premises of Jet Airways and its founder Naresh Goyal in Mumbai in connection with an alleged Rs 538-crore fraud case in Canara Bank, officials said. The CBI searches were spread across residences and offices of Goyal, his wife Anita, and former airline director Gaurang Ananda Shetty. The agency has registered a new case of alleged bank fraud of Rs 538 crore on a complaint from Canara Bank, they said. The allegations pertain to alleged diversion of funds among other irregularities, they said. The Delhi High Court Wednesday asked the CBI to file a status report on a plea by former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, arrested in the Delhi excise policy case, seeking interim bail on grounds of his wife's illness. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to make an endeavour to file the report by Thursday when the court is scheduled to hear Sisodia's plea seeking regular bail. Sisodia's counsel submitted that the medical condition of the senior AAP leader's wife needs urgent attention, and urged the court to release him on interim bail. The counsel for the CBI said it may not be possible to furnish the report on Thursday. To this, the court asked him to try and make efforts to file the report by Thursday so that the application could be heard along with Sisodia's regular bail plea. The CBI Wednesday told the Delhi High Court that the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 was manipulated to favour cartelisation and monopolisation in liquor trade in the national capital and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and businessman Vijay Nair were the main conspirators. The CBI on Tuesday filed a supplementary charge sheet against former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and three others before a Delhi court in a corruption case related to the alleged excise scam. Special Judge M K Nagpal fixed May 12 for consideration of the charge sheet after the CBI submitted that the prosecution sanction against Sisodia has already been procured from the competent authorities. The CBI has booked Pramod Goenka, the missing brother of DB Realty Managing Director Vinod Goenka, and his company Yash Jewellery in a case of alleged cheating that caused a loss of more than Rs 405 crore to State Bank of India, officials said on Monday. The CBI FIR relates to credit facilities extended to Pramod Goenka-owned Yash Jewellery by SBI which were allegedly not repaid turning the account into a non-performing asset in 2014. The FIR registered on the basis of a complaint from SBI accused Pramod Goenka, Rustom Ariez Tata and Anant L Prabhudesai of entering into a criminal conspiracy to cheat the bank allegedly inducing it to sanction loans of Rs 235 crore, which they siphoned off, causing a loss of Rs 405.58 crore. Police on Saturday said they have not detained former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik in southwest Delhi's R K Puram area. "We have not detained former governor Satya Pal Malik. He came on his own volition, along with his supporters, to the R K Puram police station and we have informed him that he can leave at his own will," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C said. Another officer said a meeting was scheduled to be held at an MCD park in R K Puram and Malik was supposed to take part in it. He was informed that this was not a place to hold a meeting and that he had neither taken any permission from the authorities concerned, following which Malik and his supporters left the place and subsequently, the former governor came to the police station on his own, the officer added.
