Court takes notice of CBI charge sheet against Tytler in 1984 riots case

A court here on Friday took notice of the CBI's charge sheet against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the Pul Bangash case of killing of three people and torching of a gurudwara during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahima Rai Singh took notice of the charge sheet and referred the matter to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta, as the case pertained to a former MP. ACMM Gupta is likely to take cognisance of the charge sheet on June 8 and issue summons to Tytler. Tytler "incited, instigated and provoked" the mob that had assembled at Pul Bangash Gurudwara in Azad Market on November 1, 1984 that resulted in burning down of the gurudwara and killing of three Sikhs -- Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Gurcharan Singh -- the CBI alleged in its charge sheet filed on May 20. Cong asks Sebi to ensure FPI ownership disclosure, JPC in Adani group case

The Congress on Thursday demanded that SEBI should ensure complete disclosure of ownership of Foreign Portfolio Investors from retrospective effect and said that only a JPC can investigate to ascertain who diluted and then removed the very rule in this regard to benefit the Adani group. The demands came a day after capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) proposed mandating additional disclosure around ownership of high-risk Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), to enhance trust in the Indian securities markets. A day after the SEBI proposed mandating additional disclosure for high-risk Foreign Portfolio Investors, the Congress on Thursday alleged that the regulator was now looking to tighten the very rules it was "forced to dilute" in 2018 to benefit the Adani Group. Capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Wednesday came out with a proposal mandating enhanced disclosures from high-risk Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) to guard against possible circumvention of the Minimum Public Shareholding (MPS) requirement. This came after the SEBI observed that some FPIs have concentrated a substantial portion of their equity portfolio in a single investee company. Rajasthan Cong announces 1st 100 units electricity free for all households

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday announced waiving charges for the first 100 units of electricity for all households irrespective of their total consumption per month. "The first 100 units of electricity will be given free of cost to families who consume more than 100 units per month. That is, no matter how much the bill comes, they will not have to pay any electricity charge for the first 100 units," he tweeted. The chief minister said that keeping the middle-class people in mind, those who consume electricity up to 200 units per month, the first 100 units will be free. Along with this, fixed charges, fuel surcharge and all other charges for consumption up to 200 units will be waived, he said. According to sources, only electricity charges need to be given between 100 to 200 units. Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Priyank Kharge will once again be in-charge of IT & BT department in the State, with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday affecting a minor re-allocation of portfolios to his Cabinet. Kharge will take care of IT & BT along with existing portfolio, while Large & Medium Industries Minister M B Patil has been given the additional charge of Infrastructure Development. The Chief Minister has divested himself of both these portfolios. According to sources, initially, Patil was given the IT & BT portfolio along with Industries. However, in a subsequent revision the department went to Kharge along with Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. With Patil keen on IT & BT, apparently opposing this move, Siddarmaiah had kept the portfolio with himself. Kharge was Minister for IT & BT in the earlier Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.
