No Covid-19 death in Gujarat for 12th day; 21 new infections today

Gujarat added 21 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the tally to 8,24,850, while no fresh death due to the infection was reported in the state, said the Health Department. This was the 12th straight day when no death due to coronavirus was reported in the state and the toll remained unchanged at 10,076. A release by the Health Department said 29 patients were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours, pushing the tally of recoveries to 8,14,514. Gujarat's COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.75 per cent, the release said, adding the state now has 260 active cases, of which five patients are on ventilators. According to the state government, 3.29 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered to the eligible population till now, of which 3.43 lakh jabs were given on Friday. Mumbai reports 326 Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths, 366 recoveries today

Mumbai reported 326 new coronavirus cases and seven fresh deaths on Friday, taking the tally of infections to 7,35,505 and the toll to 15,808, a civic official said. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said as part of the ongoing data reconciliation exercise with the Maharashtra government figures, 1,393 COVID-19 infections were removed from the cumulative tally of positive cases and the discharge count, while 65 deaths were added to the toll. Maharashtra coronavirus update: 6,600 new Covid-19 cases, 231 deaths

Maharashtra reported 6,600 new coronavirus cases and 231 fatalities on Friday while 7,431 patients were discharged from hospitals, a health official said. The caseload in the state rose to 62,96,756 and death toll reached 1,32,566. The tally of recovered patients rose to 60,83,319. The number of active cases decreased to 77,494 from 78,562 the day before. There are 4,79,553 people in home quarantine and 3,289 in institutional quarantine. Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 96.61 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.01 per cent. The number of coronavirus tests conducted so far climbed to 4,75,59,938 with 2,00,924 samples tested since Thursday evening.
