Rohit last played a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match back in the 2011/2012 season, marking a long return to domestic T20 cricket if he decides to come back for Mumbai.
This year, the event will follow the mini-auction format, offering franchises limited opportunities to tweak their squads and make tactical additions.
For Delhi, the defeat reflected a deeper crisis within the team setup. Coached by Sarandeep Singh, Delhi now languishes at sixth position in Group D with only seven points after four matches.
Security arrangements would be beefed up in and around the capital's Arun Jaitley Stadium for the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir following a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort, which is just kilometres away from the stadium here. "Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Janmu & Kashmir," Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI on Monday. "I would be getting in touch with Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises," he added. A high-intensity explosion ripped through a car parked near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening, gutting several vehicles and killing at least eight people. Twenty-four people were reported injured in the blast that took place on a busy evening when the area was milling with people.

Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani returned a five-wicket haul as a dominant Mumbai crushed Himachal Pradesh by an innings and 120 runs to notch up an outright win on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D contest here Monday. After putting on board 446 in the first innings, Mumbai ran through a frail Himachal Pradesh batting line-up twice in as many days on a dusty BKC Ground track to record a comprehensive victory, their second of the season. Himachal, bundled out for 187 in a poor first-innings show on a placid wicket earlier on day three, showed no significant improvement in the second, making 139 in which only Pukhraj Mann (65 off 109 balls, 9x4s) provided some resistance. Resuming at a precarious 94 for 7 in the first innings, a brisk half-century from number 10 Vaibhav Arora (51 off 61 balls, 7x4s, 4x6s) gave HP some much-needed impetus, even as Nikhil Gangta (64 not out, 134 balls, 8x4s) held the other end strongly. Arora used the long handle to a good effect and ...
The move is termed surprising as CSK fans are questioning whether Sanju in the squad is worth sending their legend Ravindra Jadeja over to the other side
Seventeen years after he first wore the jersey of Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL, the veteran all-rounder could return to the franchise where it all began, bringing his journey full circle
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, who was part of the A' team's unofficial Test series in Bengaluru, was the last to join the senior squad on Monday morning as the visitors assembled in full strength ahead of the opening Test against India beginning at the Eden Gardens on Friday. The first batch of the South African contingent, including head coach Shukri Conrad, pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen, along with the players who featured in the white-ball series in Pakistan, had arrived on Sunday morning. "Bavuma, along with another player and a few officials, arrived this morning from Bengaluru. Most of the squad including the head coach had already checked in on Sunday,," the South Africa teams local manager told PTI. "So, South Africa now have their full contingent in. There's no activity scheduled at the Eden today... Most likely, both teams will have their first training session on Tuesday." Bavuma, who had suffered a calf strain and missed the start of South Africa's Wor
Mohammed Shami may have already bowled 93 overs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy but it is unlikely that one of India's finest pacers will be seen donning the whites again and his chances of wearing the ODI blues also look bleak. The 35-year-old last played for India in the Champions Trophy in March but since then, he hasn't been picked in any format. He had endured a lengthy layoff from the game after the heel injury in 2023 which required surgery after the World Cup. At this point, the direction in which Indian cricket is moving, it is unlikely that Shami will be adding more games to the 197 internationals that he has played across three formats. He has fallen off the radar in both Test and T20I cricket where Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep have rapidly gone up the ladder. The only format seemingly left for him is ODI. But given that the next one-day World Cup is in 2027, it wouldn't be particularly prudent to travel with a 37-year-old with a history of career-threatening injuries, ...
The Indian cricket team is not where it "wants to be" in terms of its preparations for next year's T20 World Cup yet but head coach Gautam Gambhir says there is enough time in hand to get there. In a brief teaser of his interview with 'bcci.tv', Gambhir also stressed on the importance of fitness. "It has been a very transparent dressing room, it has been a very honest dressing room and that is how we want this dressing room to be. I think we still aren't where we want to be come the T20 World Cup," he said in the 46-second clip which will be followed by the full interview later in the day. "Hopefully guys know the importance of being fit. We still have three months to be where we want to be," he added. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March next year. India are the defending champions. He reiterated his philosophy of handing out tough assignments to individuals to understand the depth of their character. "Throw guys in the deep sea, as

Pakistan's upcoming batter Hasan Nawaz was on Sunday released from the national one-day and T20 squads for the bilateral series against Sri Lanka and the Tri-series because of poor form. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday that Hasan Nawaz has been told to go and play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first class tournament. The PCB said opener Fakhar Zaman will replace Hasan in the T20 squad for the Tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet decided about appointing the new head coach of the national women's team after their disappointing last place finish in the World Cup, won by India. It was being speculated that former fast bowler Wahab Riaz could be appointed as consultant or head coach of the women's team but the PCB has quickly issued a rebuttal. "Wahab has already been working as a consultant in the PCB with various teams but has been given no new assignment as yet," a official said. The PCB had decided against extending the contract of former test batsman, Muhammad Wasim as head coach of the women's team last week. A well-informed source said that the PCB was in negotiations with two foreign coaches to work with the women's team but nothing had been finalised. "If things don't work out with the foreign coaches, the PCB will look at local options foremost among them is former women's team captain, Bismah Maroof," the source added. He said Wahab would only be asked

Jemimah Rodrigues' return to competitive cricket after the high of the World Cup triumph turned out to be a quiet one as the Indian batting superstar managed only six runs in her team Brisbane Heat's seven-wicket defeat against Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash League here Sunday. Rodrigues, who was playing her first match since India's historic ODI World Cup win last week, looked eager to make an impact but got out after facing nine balls, edging Alice Capsey to Deandra Dottin at backward point. Rodrigues' subdued return may have disappointed her growing fan base but her presence added star value to the contest. Brisbane Heat posted a video on their X handle, showing a smiling Jemimah making he way to the pitch, saying," I am here in Brisbane, can you believe it, very excited for today, let's go." Her early exit came at a crucial juncture as Heat could only post 133 all out in 20 overs. Nadine de Klerk (40 off 38 balls) and Chinelle Henry (29 off 22) offered resistance,
