Delhi records minimum temperature of 10.4 deg C; air quality 'very poor'

Delhi's air quality was recorded in the 'very poor' category on Monday morning and the minimum temperature settled at 10.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the 'severe' category on Sunday evening at 459, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. The AQI on Monday morning was 373. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. The relative humidity recorded at 8.30 am was 90 per cent, the weather office said. It predicted generally cloudy skies with the possibility of very light rain and drizzle on Monday, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius. Light rains predicted over Delhi-NCR, AQI in severe category: IMD

Light to moderate intensity rain has been predicted over Delhi-NCR during the next two hours, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The national weather forecasting agency also predicted thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain over Haryana's Rewari and Uttar Pradesh's Kithor.In a tweet posted at 11.10 pm, the national weather forecasting agency said, "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Rewari (Haryana) Kithor (U.P.) . Covid-19 pandemic: Delhi reports 290 fresh cases and one fatality

Delhi reported 290 fresh coronavirus cases and one fatality, while the positivity rate rose to 0.55 percent, according to data shared by the Delhi government's health department here on Sunday. With this, the cumulative tally rose to 14,43,352 while the death toll rose to 25,105. The number of active cases stands at 1,103, of which 583 patients are in home isolation. There has been an uptick in the number of cases in the last few days, amid a threat of the Omicron variant of the virus.

Delhi's air quality in 'severe' category, light rain likely tomorrow

The air quality of the national capital on Saturday was recorded in the 'severe' category for the fifth consecutive day, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy sky with light rain on Sunday. The city's 24-hour average air quality index read 431 at 4 pm. It was 415 on Friday, 423 on Thursday, 407 on Wednesday and 402 on Tuesday. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. The city has recorded 23 'severe' air quality days in this year so far. In November, it recorded 11 such days, the highest in the month since the Central Pollution Control Board started maintaining air quality data in 2015. Delhi on Thursday recorded 118 fresh Covid cases, and one death, while the positivity rate stood at 0.13 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department. On Wednesday, the national capital had logged 125 cases, the highest since June 22, with a positivity rate of 0.20 per cent while no death due to the coronavirus infection was recorded, as per official figures. The death toll due to the coronavirus infection in Delhi has risen to 25,103, as per the latest health bulletin. Five deaths have been reported in December, so far.
