Delhi's per capita income in 2023-24 at Rs 4,61,910 was the third highest after Goa and Sikkim in the country, according to the latest statistical handbook. The document showed that the per capita of the city was more than double the national level per capita income of Rs 1,84,205. The handbook issued annually by the Delhi government details various socio-economic, demographic and infrastructure related data of the national capital. The handbook noted a 7.4 per cent yearly growth in the per capita income of the city. It showed a major decline in the number of vehicles on the national capital's roads from 1.22 crore in 2020-21 to 79.45 lakh in 2022-23. The number of schools in Delhi declined from 5,666 in 2020-21 to 5,497 in 2023-24. However number of enrolled students rose slightly for both, the boys and girls, during the same period. The number of the boy and girl students in 2020-21 was 23.60 lakh and 21.19 lakh. It increased to 23.70 lakh and 21.36 lakh in 2023-24, the data .

The Rashtrapati Bhavan (Circuit-1) will remain closed for the general public from January 21 to 29 due to the upcoming Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat ceremony, according to an official statement issued on Thursday. Circuit 1 takes the visitors on a tour of the main building of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, showing them the forecourt and premier rooms of the Bhavan and long drawing room among others. The change of guard Ceremony will also not take place on January 11, 18 and 25 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan due to rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, said the statement issued by the president's office. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on Tuesday revealed his intention to "detoxify" himself and spend several months in solitude in the Himalayas post his retirement next month. Responding to a question while addressing a presser to announce the Delhi Assembly elections, he shared his post-retirement plans with an introspective touch. "I will detoxify myself for the next four-five months, go to the deep Himalayas, be away from the glare of all of you. I need some 'ekant' (solitude) and 'swadhyay' (self-study)," Kumar, who is set to retire on February 18, said. The Election Commission will write to the cabinet secretary, informing that no Delhi-specific provision can be made in the Union Budget that can disturb the level-playing field, CEC Rajiv Kumar said on Tuesday. Guidelines issued for EWS, other categories' admission in Delhi pvt schools

The online registration for entry-level classes in private schools of Delhi under the economically weaker section (EWS), disadvantaged groups and children with special needs categories will begin on February 2. In a circular dated January 3, the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) outlined the guidelines for the admission process for nursery, kindergarten (KG) and Class 1 under EWS/disadvantaged groups (DG) and children with special needs (CWSN) in the city's private unaided recognised schools. The DoE stated that the online application process will commence on February 3 and the last date for submission of applications is February 19. The first round of the computerised draw of lots for selected students will be announced on March 3. According to the guidelines, the age limit for admission as of March 31 for students under the EWS and DG categories is between three and five years for nursery, four and six years for KG, and five and seven years for Class 1. There are more than 1.55 crore registered voters in Delhi, showing an increase of 1,67,329 electors in over two months, according to the final electoral roll published on Monday. The Office of Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) published the Special Summary Revision (SSR), 2025 ahead of the assembly elections. The total number of voters in the city are 1,55,24,858, including 83,49,645 male voters, 71,73,952 female voters and 1,261 third-gender voters. According to a statement from the office of Delhi CEO, over 5.1 lakh applications for new voter registration were received in the last 20 days, an unprecedented surge after the official claims and objections period ended on November 28, 2024. Delhi's excise revenue up by 13% in first three quarters of 2024-25

Delhi government's excise revenue from liquor trade saw a jump of around 13 per cent in the first three quarters of 2024-25, officials said on Sunday. The revenue jumped to Rs 6,061 crore from Rs 5,361 crore in the corresponding period in previous fiscal, they said. The sale of liquor bottles on New Year's Eve, however, saw a decline. On December 31, 2024, a total of 23 lakh bottles were sold, as against 24 lakh in 2023. The decline was attributed to December 31 being a Tuesday, when many avoid liquor consumption owing to religious reasons. The department's revenue consisted of Rs 4,233 crore it got in excise duty and Rs 1,828 as Value Added Tax. In comparison, the department in April-December 2023, earned Rs 5,361 crore in excise revenue, including Rs 1,643 crore as VAT. A target of Rs 6,400 crore in revenue was set for the financial year 2024-25. In the 2023-24 fiscal, the total excise duty collected was Rs 5,164 crore.
