Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has "transformed our talent pool" to the advantage of a rising nation of 140 crore people. The Education Minister's comments came after PM Modi, in an interview with PTI, said, "For a long time, India was perceived as a nation of over one billion hungry stomachs. But now, India is being seen as a nation of over one billion aspirational minds, more than two billion skilled hands, and hundreds of millions of young people." that India now is 1 billion aspirational minds, 2 billion skilled hands. "The period till 2047 is a huge opportunity. Indians who are living in this era have a great chance to lay a foundation for growth that will be remembered for the next 1,000 years!" the prime minister added. Addressing the B20 Summit India on the theme "Aligning Education to Emerging Imperatives", Pradhan said education is the mothership that will drive all growth. The University Grants Commission had made certain suggestions on the anti-ragging system, the minister said, adding that these include the installation of CCTV cameras, a separate cell to deal with ragging cases, and a communication facility among others. CBSE students can now learn in 22 languages including Odia: Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that 22 languages including Odia will now be the mediums of instruction in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across the country. Till now, the mediums of instruction in CBSE schools were English and Hindi. Pradhan said the CBSE has issued a circular in this regard on Friday and allowed other languages as the mediums of instruction in their schools. He said the new mediums of instruction from classes 1 to 12 were added under the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP). He said a student who reads in his or her mother tongue understands the subject better than Hindi or English. Pradhan said schools will make provisions for study in these languages and NCERT has also been asked to prepare textbooks accordingly. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, requesting him to provide compensation to 13,000 families who were displaced decades ago due to the construction of the Rengali dam as they are yet to receive the financial aid.
