A seven-year-old boy died and six people were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at their home in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said Monday. The incident occurred at Jogiya Khera village in Phugana area on Sunday evening when food was being prepared and a cylinder caught fire, Circle Officer Hariram Yadav. The body of the deceased, Fihan, has been sent for post-mortem. The injured, Gulfam (40), his wife, Parveen (38), four children were shifted to a hospital, Yadav added.

A fire broke out in an Army barrack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, police said. There were no reports of any loss of life. At least 13 people, including a woman and four children, were killed when their van collided with a truck in Pakistan's Balochistan province, police said Monday. The accident took place on Sunday night when the van was heading to Zohb from Quetta when it collided with a truck in Ali Khel area in the province, Ary News reported. At least 13 people were killed and seven others were injured, police said, adding that five members of a family are also included in the deceased in the dreadful accident. Following the accident, the rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Qila Saifullah. Local police have cordoned off the area and further investigation into the matter was underway. Road accidents are common in Pakistan. A tornado on Sunday knocked down trees and damaged homes in Ottawa as it ripped through parts of Canada's capital and the surrounding Quebec province. No injuries were reported. Environment Canada issued a weather warning just before 6 pm local time, saying a funnel cloud had been spotted at the Gatineau airport, moving eastward. Images and video of the tornado soon spread on social media as it touched down in the Ottawa suburb of Orleans. "There are many trees down and property damage to some houses in the area," police said in a statement, noting that some residential streets were impassable due to debris. One person was killed in a cloudburst in Chamoli as heavy rains lashed the district and neigbouring Almora in Uttarakhand Sunday evening. Badar Singh was grazing his cattle in the forests in the Lambagad area of Chamoli district when he was hit by a cloudburst, SHO, Gairsain police station, Ravindra Singh Negi said. He died on the spot while the cattle he was grazing was lost, the SHO said, adding that a search was on to trace it. The flash floods that followed the cloudburst have inundated three villages of Chamoli and a few in Almora district, Negi said.

A fire broke out at the Sabzi Mandi in north east Delhi's Nand Nagri in the early hours of Sunday, the Delhi Fire Service said. However, no injury or casualty was reported, they said. The fire department said a call was received about the fire at 2.55 am after which 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. "A fire broke out at the Sabzi Mandi in Nand Nagri, which houses around 250 small vegetable shops. However, no one was injured," a senior fire officer said. Five people were charred to death and six others including, four children, injured when their autorickshawrammed into an electric pole in Visakhapatnamagency Sunday, police said. All the five died of electrocution after the overhead cable snapped and fell on the vehicle under the impact of the collision, they said. The autorickshaw was proceeding to Chintapalle when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into a roadside electric pole resulting in snapping of the overhead wire. While five of them were burnt alive some were thrown out of the autorickshaw, they added. Locals rushed the injured to the nearby primary health care centre, where they were referred to Narsipatnam area hospital.
