Delhi Metro to launch India's first 3-coach train line by 2028: Official

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce the country's first metro corridor designed for operations with three-coach trains on the upcoming Lajpat NagarSaket G Block route, officials said on Sunday. A part of Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro project, the corridor will span eight kilometer and be the second-smallest in the network, the DMRC said in a statement. The line aims to enhance last-mile connectivity and ensure seamless interchange with existing corridors, it said. Unlike other metro lines that operate with four, six or eight coaches, the new corridor will use 3-coach trains, developed specifically for short-distance urban travel, the statement said. The smaller train configuration is expected to be a cost-effective and agile solution that ensures better frequency and operational efficiency while accommodating a significant number of daily commuters, it added. The DMRC said the decision was based on a realistic assessment of passenger flow. While high-density

DMRC pulls out ad on breast cancer after facing backlash from activists

Delhi Metro on Thursday said it has withdrawn a poster on breast cancer awareness that asked women to check your oranges but the questions remained - does the metaphor obscure the message, does it help women in a cloistered society get comfortable or more awkward by sexualising a body part. Delhi Metro's action came after a day of raging debate on social media and outside it over the poster by YouWeCan Foundation, a non-profit organisation. The campaign timed with breast cancer awareness month in October featured AI-generated women on a bus holding oranges with a caption urging women to 'check your oranges once a month' for early detection. Though the poster was only on one train, commuters took screenshots, shared them widely and the issue quickly became an intense discussion topic on various platforms and forums. "Are the makers so starved of human decency that they would resort to comparing a vital body part to a fruit? How exactly are you teaching women to be comfortable talking
