Over 26,000 candidates, who have been skilled till November 2023 under the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, will not have any preference in jobs in the Indian Railways, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday. Vaishnaw said that this scheme was launched in September 2021, adding 26,791 candidates have completed their training till November 2023. Responding to a question by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayana Koragappa whether any preference of above trained youth is given for employment in the railways, he said, No, Sir. According to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey of nearly 3,100 employers across sectors and regions, the Net Employment Outlook (NEO) in India is the highest amongst 41 countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Saturday that his government has boosted employment opportunities in traditional as well as emerging sectors like renewable energy, defence industry and automation. He made the remarks as he distributed appointment letters to nearly 51,000 youths recruited in different government departments. He said his government and states ruled by the BJP and its allies have been holding 'Rozgar Mela' since October last year, and lakhs of youngsters have been given appointment letters so far. "Rozgar Mela underscores our government's commitment to the youth," he said, addressing the recruits through a virtual event. "Today, India is equipping its youth with skills and education to harness emerging opportunities. India's trajectory and the pace of its progress are generating new employment prospects across all sectors," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to recruits on Saturday as part of the government's Rozgar Mela drive and also address them though video-conferencing. Rozgar Mela will be held at 37 locations across the country. A statement said recruitments are taking place across central government departments as well as in those states and Union Territories supporting this initiative. The recruits selected from across the country will be joining a host of departments, including railways, posts, home affairs, revenue, higher education, school education and literacy, health and family welfare among others. The statement said the Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilment the prime minister's commitment to accord highest priority to employment generation and is expected to act as a catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development.
