Sexuality doesn't exist for superheroes: Spanish dir Pedro Almodovar

Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar has said superhero genre maybe on the rise but these films seem to steer clear of exploring the sexuality of the characters. The director, whose initial films characterised the sense of sexual and political freedom in the 1980s, achieved international recognition for his black comedy-drama film "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown". It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His 1999 film "All About My Mother" received Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, while "Talk to Her" (2002) earned him the award for Best Original Screenplay. He believes writers are held back from writing stories about the sexuality of superheroes due to "a kind of self-censorship". "There are many, many movies about superheroes. And sexuality doesn't exist for superheroes. They are neutered. There is an unidentified gender, the adventure is what's important. "You can find, among independent movies, more of this sexuality. The human being has such .

Blake Lively almost starred in 'Mean Girls'

Blake Lively could have starred in hit teen comedy "Mean Girls", casting director of the film Marci Liroff has said. The producers of the 2004 film considered casting Lively as the ditzy Karen. The role eventually went to Amanda Seyfried. "We wanted Blake Lively, who hadn't done the 'Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' yet, for Karen. "She came down to the final tests but, at some point, some of the filmmakers said to keep looking. Amanda Seyfried had read for Regina (played by Rachel McAdams) and we really liked her but then (producer) Lorne (Michaels) suggested, 'Why don't we make her Karen?'" Liroff told Cosmopolitan UK. "Mean Girls" also starred Lindsay Lohan, Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who also wrote the screenplay. Besides "Sisterhood..." Lively also went on to star in a breakthrough role of Serene van der Woodsen in teen drama "Gossip Girl".

Jamie Dornan almost turned down 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

"Fifty Shades" star Jamie Dornan has revealed he was initially sceptical about featuring in the erotic-romance franchise as he feared the films would be critically panned. The actor, who shot to global fame playing Christian Grey, said he agreed to take on the role as it was an "incredible" financial opportunity. "It's very odd, to be honest. You are presented with this incredible opportunity that is going to have a big impact on your life and change many things to be honest mostly financially, but also career, it'll open so many doors but you know it's going to get panned. "You're trying to do the best you can and make the best of it, but we knew that because the books were adored by many, bought by many, but panned by many... (it was) probably going to be the same thing for the movies," Dornan told Jay Rayner on his 'Out To Lunch' podcast. The 37-year-old actor said working on the three-part series, based on bestselling novels of the same name by EL James, was not different than ..

'Avengers: Endgame' directors tease Captain America's future

"Maybe there is a story there," says Joe Russo about the future of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or so it seems. After the first Avenger was shown to have had a seemingly happy ending by the time "Endgame" reached its climax, the one-half of the "Avengers: Endgame" director duo has teased that those who were thinking this was it for actor Chris Evans in the MCU may be mistaken. "If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality," Joe said, adding, "The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?" "Interesting question, right? Maybe there's a story there. There's a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it's fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we're thinking," he told EW. Joe and Anthony Russo also confirmed that Captain America's longtime friend Bucky Barnes (essayed by Sebastian Stan) was aware of his
