Global technology leaders on Friday said Artificial Intelligence (AI) can enhance productivity while they urged for the development of AI in a responsible manner. Speaking at B20 Summit India 2023 organised by CII, IBM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Arvind Krishna said AI can free up people for more productive work and reduce cost for businesses. He said coding can be improved by about 60 per cent by using AI assistance. "Inside IBM, we think about 20 per cent of the total activity, which we call lower order cognitive work, about 30 per cent of that can be easily made productive through AI. That frees up more people to do more value adding work. It's not that there aren't jobs. If you have productivity then you can access way more clients. You can provide things at a lower cost point," Krishna said. Delhi gears up for G20 summit, police to bump up security, preparations

Delhi Police will track social media to prevent any rumour-mongering or inflammatory posts, identify and check criminal elements and focus on malls, markets and religious places in the city as part of security drills for the G20 summit, officials said on Thursday. According to an official, all borders will be "sealed to prevent unwarranted entry" into the national capital though normal vehicular and public movements will be allowed, they said after a review meeting held by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena with top Delhi Police officials, including the police commissioner. They said that if some particular groups intend to stage protest or indulge in nuisance during the two-day mega event, it will come under "unwarranted entry" and police will stop them from entering the city. MCD rushes to identify, clean garbage vulnerable points ahead of G20 summit

As Delhi prepares to host the G20 Summit in Delhi, the municipal corporation has chalked up a plan to identify all 'garbage vulnerable points' and clear them in a timely manner. Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi in a press conference on Thursday said all zonal deputy commissioners (DCs) have been directed to take action in this regard. This move also comes amid the ongoing campaign 'Ab Delhi Hogi Saaf' -- a citywide cleanliness drive started by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on August 12. "Garbage vulnerable points are open places where trash is found dumped regularly The idea is to identify such points, clean them up and place flower pots there so people won't dump garbage there again," Oberoi said. All central government offices in the national capital will be closed from September 8 to 10 in view of the G20 summit, according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on Thursday. The G20 summit will be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10. "Recognising the magnitude of this event and the substantial logistical arrangements involved, it has been decided to keep the central government offices located in Delhi closed from September 8, 2023 to September 10, 2023 on the occasion of G20 summit to be held in Delhi," said the order issued to all central government ministries and departments. G20 countries allocated a staggering USD 1.4 trillion of public funds to support fossil fuels in 2022, aiming to counter the impact of their soaring prices due to the Ukraine war and strengthen energy reserves, a new study has said. The study by independent think tank International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and partners comes as G20 leaders prepare for their summit meeting scheduled for September 9-10 in New Delhi. India, the current G20 president, has made good progress, the study says,highlighting the cut in the fossil fuel subsidies by 76 percent from 2014 to 2022 while boosting support for clean energy. This puts India in a strong position to lead on this issue, the study says. US President Joe Biden will travel to India from September 7 to 10 to attend the G-20 Leaders' Summit, the White House said on Tuesday. Centre to move 20-22 fresh CAPF units to Manipur, G20 Summit: Report

The Centre is expected to deploy about 20-22 fresh CAPF companies in the ethnic violence hit regions of Manipur after the withdrawal of these personnel deputed for the security of the Amarnath Yatra that is ending soon, official sources said on Tuesday. These companies will be in addition to the about 125 such units of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) that are already deployed in Manipur since violence broke out in the first week of May. It is planned that about 20-22 companies of the CAPFs-- that includes the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)-- will be deployed in Manipur in the first phase as part of "bolstering" the security grid in the state. These units are being withdrawn from the Amarnath Yatra duty in Jammu and Kashmir as it has been declared closed for pilgrims now, official sources in the security establishment told PTI. MCD aims to build G20 commemorative park before Sept summit, says official

With less than three weeks to go before the G20 Summit here, civic officials on Sunday said they aim to build a thematic park to commemorate India's presidency of the bloc before the mega event. The G20-themed park will be developed on the premises of an existing one in M Block of Greater Kailash 2. "The park will have the logo of the G20 made in an artistic style, besides other artwork. It will also have stone sculptures of elephants and other animals to add to the charm," a top Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) official said. Asked about the project's timeline, he said the aim is to "gift" the park to the people as soon as possible. "Since the G20 Summit begins on September 9, the target is to build it before the event," he told PTI.
