Gold jumps Rs 600 to Rs 78,050 per 10 gm, silver rises by Rs 1,500

Gold prices jumped Rs 600 to Rs 78,050 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday amid a strong global trend in the overseas market, according to the All India Sarafa Association. On Monday, the precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity closed at Rs 77,450 per 10 grams. Gold prices also rose due to increased buying by local jewellers and retailers for the wedding festivities, traders said. Silver bounced Rs 1,500 to Rs 93,500 per kg against the previous close of Rs 92,000 per kg on Monday. Gold price of 99.5 per cent purity rose Rs 600 to Rs 77,650 per 10 grams. It had ended at Rs 77,050 per 10 grams in the previous session. Meanwhile, in futures trade on the MCX, gold contracts for December delivery jumped Rs 615 or 0.82 per cent to trade at Rs 75,662 per 10 grams. "MCX gold prices experienced a rebound in the last session after several days of underperformance, largely due to a pullback in the dollar index," Deveya Gaglani, Senior Research Analyst at Axis Securities, said. Gold slide continues; price declines Rs 700 to Rs 77,050 per 10 grams

Gold prices saw yet another steep fall on Thursday, with the precious metal declining Rs 700 to Rs 77,050 per 10 grams in the national capital amid subdued demand trend in the global markets, according to the All India Sarafa Association. The precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity closed at Rs 77,750 per 10 grams in the previous session, a day after falling marginally by Rs 50 on Wednesday. Silver also plummeted Rs 2,310 to Rs 90,190 per kg against the previous close of Rs 92,500 per kg. Extending the losses for the fourth straight session, the price of gold of 99.5 per cent purity fell Rs 700 to Rs 76,650 per 10 grams. It had ended at Rs 77,350 per 10 grams on Wednesday. In futures trade on the MCX, gold contracts for December delivery plunged Rs 804 or 1.08 per cent to trade at Rs 73,678 per 10 grams. During the day, the precious metal declined Rs 1,182 or 1.59 per cent to Rs 73,300 per 10 grams. "Gold's weakness persisted with price falling near Rs 73,500 in MCX as the dollar .

Gold ETFs witness record Rs 1,961 cr inflow in Oct, 59% surge on MoM basis

Gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) witnessed a record inflow of Rs 1,961 crore in October, marking a surge of 59 per cent on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, driven by expectation of increase in the yellow metal prices during the festive and marriage season. This was over two-fold higher than Rs 841 crore inflow seen in October 2023, data with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) showed. The inflow helped in raising the assets under management (AUM) of gold funds by 12 per cent to Rs 44,545 crore by the end of October from Rs 39,823 crore in the preceding month. "With the US Fed cutting interest rates by 75 bps (basis points) this year and dollar appreciating, how this is going to impact gold prices globally and investments therein need to be observed," Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director - Manager Research at Morningstar Investment Research India, said.
