Police arrests man accused of opening fire during Haryana's Nuh violence

Police have arrested a man accused of opening fire and injuring a man during the communal violence in Haryana's Nuh, officials said on Thursday. The police, acting on an FIR registered on July 31 at Sohna City police station, arrested Mohammad Kaif. A Vishva Hindu Parishad-led procession was attacked by mobs in Nuh on July 31. Six people were killed, most of them during the attack. A cleric died in an attack on a mosque in adjoining Gurugram. In his complaint to the police, a Sohna resident said he suffered an injury on his leg while returning from a gym on the evening of July 31. Bleeding profusely, the man was admitted to a hospital. "During treatment, it was revealed that I had been shot in my leg. Some unknown person shot me with the intention of killing me during the communal riots," he said in his complaint. NIA court forfeits properties of listed Khalistani terrorist Rinda's aides

As part of a new strategy to hit the finances of terrorist organisations, the special NIA Court in Haryana has forfeited the seized property of four aides of Pakistan-based 'listed Khalistani terrorist' Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda. This is the first time the NIA has proactively sought the properties of terrorists to be forfeited to the State under Section 26 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after being attached as proceeds of terrorism. "Forfeiture of properties is a major new tool in the NIA's strategy to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in the country. The NIA has adopted this strategy to squeeze the financial resources of the terrorist outfits as well as their operatives and associates," a spokesperson of the federal anti-terror agency said. It has already attached several terrorist-linked properties and the process of their forfeiture is underway in different courts. Monu Manesar to be questioned in connection with murder of two Muslim men

Police in Rajasthan will question suspected cow vigilante Monu Manesar in connection with the murder of two Muslim men from the state whose charred bodies were recovered in Haryana's Bhiwani district in February, officials said on Wednesday. 100,000 poor people in state to get houses, says Haryana CM Khattar

Furthering its efforts to support the underprivileged in the state, the Haryana government has prepared a plan to provide houses to one lakh poor people, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said. Khattar's announcement came during a programme in Samalkha, Panipat late on Monday evening, where he said the state government is continually striving to provide essential necessities to its citizens, a statement issued here on Tuesday said. In this regard, with the aim of providing shelter to the underprivileged, the government has formulated a plan under which 1 lakh poor people will be provided with homes, he said. 200 job fairs to be organised in Haryana this year: Chief Minister Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announced that 200 job fairs will be organised this year and said self-reliance and self-respect are two important pillars for the upliftment of youngsters. Addressing youths, who got employment through job fairs, through audio-conference as part of the 'CM Ki Vishesh Charcha' programme, Khattar said that since January 2019 till now, 1,450 job fairs have been organised in the state and employment assistance has been provided to 31,217 youngsters. "This year also 200 job fairs will be organised," the chief minister said, according to an official statement. G20 Sherpas focus on building consensus to finalise draft declaration

With just four days left for the G20 Summit, top negotiators from the member nations of the bloc on Monday held extensive negotiations to build consensus on a number of crucial issues with an aim to finalise the draft leaders' declaration for the conclave. The G20 Sherpas primarily focused on having a globally acceptable governance framework for digital public infrastructure, steps for ensuring women-led development, climate financing and ways to strengthen multilateral development banks (MDBs), people familiar with the matter said. 4th G20 Sherpa meet to begin from today in Haryana's Nuh district

The fourth G20 Sherpa meeting will start in Haryana's Nuh district from Sunday. The meeting will be held till September 7 at the ITC Grand Bharat hotel, near Tauru, and Lemon Tree hotel. All the preparations for the meeting have been made, the district administration said on Saturday. Haryana govt to run 'Ayushman Bhava' campaign from Sept 1 to Dec 31

Haryana's health department will run an 'Ayushman Bhava' special campaign from September 1 to December 31 with an aim to achieve comprehensive coverage of the health scheme across the state. The four-month-long campaign will reach out to every household and involve the entire populace, said Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday to discuss the 'Ayushman Bhava' campaign. Kaushal said under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) families with annual income up to Rs 1.8 lakh will be provided free health cards. Families with income up to Rs 3 lakh will have to pay an annual premium of Rs 1,500 to get a health card, he added. Kaushal, as per an official statement, said nearly eight lakh citizens will be issued the health cards under the scheme. Haryana's unemployment rate 8.8% till March quarter, state assembly told

Unemployment rate in the state was recorded to be 8.8 per cent till March quarter and the government has been taking steps to provide employment to the youth, state assembly was told Tuesday. Nearly 1.69 lakh youths on average were enrolled every year across several employment exchanges in the state during 2015-2022, the government told the state assembly through a written reply. Independent MLA Balraj Kundu had sought to know the total number of youths who had enrolled as unemployed in the district employment offices in the last eight years, unemployment rate in state, and the number of youths who committed suicide due to unemployment since 2014. The Nuh administration on Monday allowed 15 seers and leaders of right-wing groups to offer prayers at the Shiv temple in Nalhar area of this district in Haryana which has been turned into a fortress in view of the Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat's call for a 'shobha yatra'. Heavy security arrangements are in place here and in adjoining areas with anti-riot vehicles and drones deployed in view of the Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat's call for a 'shobha yatra' on Monday, officials said. Authorities have denied permission for the yatra. As a precautionary measure, the Nuh district administration has already ordered the closure of educational institutions and banks on Monday, suspended mobile Internet and bulk SMS services, and imposed prohibitory orders in the communally-sensitive district. Weeks after its procession came under attack and was stopped in Haryana's Nuh, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday said a "shobha yatra" would be taken out in the area on August 28 and asserted there was no need to obtain permission from the administration for such religious events. The organisation, however, said it would inform the administration about the procession and was open to discussion on its form and size as "we do not want to cast a shadow on a G20 event", scheduled in Nuh in the first week of September. The Haryana government on Saturday ordered the suspension of mobile Internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district till August 28 in view of the call for the procession. The Haryana government on Saturday ordered the suspension of mobile Internet and bulk SMS services in the communally charged Nuh district till August 28 in view of a call for a 'shobha yatra'. The government announced the decision, apprehending the spread of rumours through social media ahead of or during Monday's rally. The Nuh authorities had recently denied permission to hold a religious procession in the district on August 28 after an earlier one in July was disrupted following communal violence. The order to suspend mobile Internet was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) TVSN Prasad on Saturday. The district administration has also imposed Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting the assembly of four or more people in an area, as a precautionary measure.
