An Urban Drainage Fund with Rs 100 crore corpus will be set up to improve drainage infrastructure in all cities of Haryana, said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while presenting his government's Budget for the 2025-26 fiscal on Monday. With a focus on tourism, rural development and green energy, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday presented the annual Budget of Rs 58,514 crore for 2025-26. While presenting his third annual Budget for FY26, Sukhu said the year 2025-26 is full of financial challenges as revenue deficit grant has been reduced and GST compensation has been stopped which will impact the state's economy. The Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) has been reduced from Rs 10,949 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 3,257 in 2025-26, while Himachal Pradesh incurred a loss of Rs 9,478 crore till 2023-24, despite Good and service Tax (GST) compensation given by the centre to the state, he said. The Haryana government on Wednesday said it has raised limits of average production per acre for Rabi crops for 2024-25, a move which will enable farmers to sell more yields at a minimum support price. The revised limits will be implemented in the Rabi procurement season of 2025-26. The move will directly benefit farmers who, due to higher yields than the previously set limits, were unable to sell their crops at the minimum support price (MSP), an official statement said. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved the increased caps after a committee set up by the government recommend changes in the production limits for Rabi crops. Gross GST revenue in Haryana rose by 20 per cent to Rs 9,925 crore in February 2025 from Rs 8,269 crore in the same month of last year, an official release said. The Excise and Taxation Department, Haryana, has achieved significant growth in the collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST), the release said. In February 2025, Gross GST revenue of Rs 1,83,646 crore was collected in the country, which is 9.1 per cent more than the GST revenue of the same month last year, it said. "At the same time, the gross GST collection in Haryana in February 2025 is Rs 9,925 crore, while in February 2024, it was Rs 8,269 crore, which shows an increase of 20 per cent. This is double the national growth average of 10 per cent," the statement said. The government has allocated Rs 5,421 crore to Punjab and Rs 3,416 crore to Haryana in the Union Budget to strengthen its rail infrastructure, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Monday. This year's allocation was 24 times more than what Punjab received from 2009-2014 (Rs 225 crore), the Railway Minister said in a video conference.
