Zydus receives final nod from USFDA to market Acetazolamide injection
Drug firm Zydus Cadila Wednesday said it has received final nod from the US health regulator to market generic Acetazolamide injection. Acetazolamide is effective in the control of fluid secretion, for example in some types of glaucoma, treatment of certain convulsive disorders and promotion of diuresis in instances of abnormal fluid retention such as cardiac edema, it added. The company has received final approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Acetazolamide for injection 500 mg per single-dose vial, Zydus Cadila said in a filing to BSE. The product will be manufactured at the group's formulations manufacturing facility at Moraiya, Ahmedabad. It is a generic version of Diamox for injection, it added. The group now has 262 approvals and has so far filed over 350 abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) since the commencement of its filing process, Zydus Cadila said.

Study reveals brain activity linked to angry dreams
A recent study helps to decode the neural basis of dream emotions. As part of the project, researchers identified a pattern of brain activity that reflects anger experienced during dreaming.Although emotions are experienced during both the waking and dreaming state, few studies have investigated the brain mechanisms underlying the affective component of dreams.The researchers obtained electroencephalography recordings from participants during two separate nights in a sleep laboratory. After five-minute bouts of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, participants were woken and asked to describe their dreams and rate the emotions they experienced in the dreams."We found that individuals who displayed greater alpha-band brain activity in the right frontal cortex as compared to the left during evening wakefulness and during REM sleep experienced more anger in dreams. Roche launches Hemophilia A treatment drug in India
Drug firm Roche Wednesday said it has launched Emicizumab under the brand name Hemlibra in India for preventive treatment of Hemophilia A, an inherited disorder in which a person's blood does not clot properly. Hemlibra is the first weekly subcutaneous prophylaxis injection shown to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes and improve the quality of life, Roche said in a statement. All current prophylactic treatment options for people with Hemophilia A with factor VIII inhibitors require intravenous infusions several times a week, it added. "The introduction of Emicizumab (Hemlibra) is a significant milestone in the treatment of Hemophilia A in India and reaffirms our commitment to bring Roche's ground breaking medicines to patients in India as early as possible," Roche Pharma India's Chief Purpose Officer Lara Bezerra said.
