A senior Ecuadorian official said no decision has been made to expel Julian Assange from the country's London embassy despite tweets from Wikileaks that sources had told it he could be kicked out within "hours to days." Australia open to return of IS fighter's orphaned children
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Friday he was open to allowing the return of orphaned children of an Australian jihadist in a Syrian refugee camp following their desperate plea for help. Morrison said his government was working with the Red Cross so the children could leave the Al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria and Australian officials could assess them. "Where they might be in a position to return to Australia, we will cooperate with that process," Morrison told reporters in Canberra. "Where there are Australians who are caught up in this situation, particularly as innocent children, we will do what I think Australians would expect us to do on their behalf." Rahul Gandhi among 149 candidates file nomination papers
: A total of 149 candidates, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi, filed their nomination papers Thursday for the April 23 Lok Sabha polls in Kerala - the last day for filing of papers. Gandhi, accompanied by his sister and AICC secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, filed the nomination at the district collectorate at Kalpetta in Wayanad. A college student here has entered the Guinness book for light painting photography. Sridhar Muthukrishnan, a second year student of BSc Visual Communications in CSI Bishop College of Arts and Science, here, entered the Guinness Book of World Records in light painting photography with 1,350 light orbs. His work was submitted to the Guinness Book officials on February 13 last year and the certificate was issued last month, said a press release from the college. Muthukrishnan's brother Suresh Narayanan helped him in the record-creating endeavour. Having a pet can help older adults cope with mental and physical health issues, according to a US poll which showed that owning an animal lowers stress and gives people a sense of purpose. While pets come with benefits, they can also bring concerns, and some people may even put their animals' needs ahead of their own health, the poll found. In all, 55 per cent of adults ages 50 to 80 have a pet, according to the new findings -- and more than half of those have multiple pets. More than three-quarters of pet owners say their animals reduce their stress, and nearly as many say pets give them a sense of purpose. However, 18 per cent also said having a pet or pets puts a strain on their budget.
