John Richardson, critic and Picasso biographer, dies at 95
Sir John Richardson, the eminent historian and critic whose multivolume series on Pablo Picasso drew upon his personal and aesthetic affinity for the Spanish painter and was widely praised as a work of art in its own right, has died. He was 95. Nicholas Latimer, a vice president and senior director of publicity at Alfred A. Knopf, said Richardson died Tuesday morning at his Manhattan home. The London-born Richardson's first Picasso book, "A Life of Picasso: The Prodigy, 1881-1906" came out in 1991, and was followed by editions covering 1907-1916 and 1917-1932. Latimer said that Richardson had been well into a fourth volume, in the works for over a decade. But he did not immediately know the title, what years it would cover or when it would be published. Two Hollywood actresses including Oscar-nominated "Desperate Housewives" star Felicity Huffman are among 50 people indicted in a nationwide university admissions scam, court records unsealed in Boston on Tuesday showed. The accused, who also include chief executives, allegedly cheated to get their children into elite schools, including Yale, Stanford, Georgetown and the University of Southern California, federal prosecutors said. Huffman, 56, and Lori Loughlin, 54, who starred in "Full House," are charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

The reboot of "Beverly Hills 90210" will pay an appropriate tribute to late actor Luke Perry, CBS TV Studios president David Stapf said. Perry, the star of hit 90's television show "Beverly Hills, 90210", passed away aged 52 last week. According to Variety, Stapf said the actor could not be part of the reboot due to his commitment to The CW show "Riverdale". Stephen Hawking's nurse struck off over care failings
The nurse who cared for late British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking was on Tuesday banned for failing "to provide the standards of good, professional care that we expect and Professor Hawking deserved". Britain's Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) made the ruling at a hearing where Patricia Dowdy, 61, faces multiple misconduct charges over her care of the professor -- who died last year -- including financial misconduct, not providing appropriate care and not having the correct qualifications. Hawking was confined to a wheelchair, almost completely paralysed and unable to speak except through his trademark voice synthesiser after having being diagnosed with motor neurone disease aged 21. A bomb threat call to the railway station here turned out to be a hoax following a thorough search, police said Tuesday. An anonymous phone call received by the officials of the station Monday night stated that a bomb had been planted there. Immediately, Railway Protection Force personnel and sniffer dogs were pressed into service and they found no explosive, the police said. Myanmar to repatriate remains of suspected WWII US airmen
The remains of suspected American airmen killed in Myanmar during World War II will be repatriated to the United States on Tuesday in the first-ever ceremony of its kind in the Southeast Asian nation, US officials said. The remains of hundreds of American military personnel are still unaccounted for in Myanmar, a key conflict arena in Asia between the Allies and Japan during World War II. The remains to be repatriated on Tuesday are believed to be linked to a crashed B-25G aircraft in February 1944 in the Salingyi area of the northwest Sagaing region. The wreckage was found in an investigation two years later but the graves could not be located. A ceremony was to be held at Mandalay International Airport on Tuesday to honour the servicemen. 21 nominated as members of Court of JNU
Twenty-one people have been nominated as members of the Court of Jawaharlal Nehru University. The members have been nominated by President Ram Nath Kovind. While 10 persons have been nominated under category of persons representing learned professions, including professor Veerendra Kumar, K A Badrinath of Financial Chronicle, six persons, including KVIC chief V K Saxena, have been nominated representing industry, labour, commerce and agriculture and five persons have been nominated under category others. A letter to this effect was sent by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to the JNU on March 6, which requested the varsity to issue notification with respect to the nominations immediately. The JNU Court is the supreme statutory body of the university which meets once in a year and the chancellor of the university presides over this meeting.
UK issues new 'black hole' coin in honour of Stephen Hawking
The UK's Royal Mint Tuesday unveiled a new commemorative 50 pence coin inspired by the late legendary British physicist Stephen Hawking's seminal work on black holes. Hawking, one of the world's best-known theoretical physicists who died aged 76 last year, joins the ranks of other eminent scientists such Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin to have a commemorative coin in honour of one of his greatest discoveries that black holes should not be all black. "This work, which used a tentative unification of Einstein's theory of general relativity with quantum mechanics, reported that black holes should not be completely black, instead emitting radiation, meaning they evaporate and eventually disappear," Royal Mint said in a statement. The coin, on sale in silver and gold forms for a price range between 55 and 795 pounds on the Royal Mint's website, is a nod to Hawking's research into black holes and his ability to make science accessible for all.
