The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Monday approved two hydropower projects entailing an investment of Rs 3,689 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. After the Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters that the CCEA approved an investment of Rs 1,750 crore for the construction of 186 MW Tato-I Hydro Electric Project and Rs 1,939 crore for 240 MW Heo Hydro Electric Project in Shi Yomi District of Arunachal Pradesh. Power generated from the two projects will help improve the power supply position in Arunachal Pradesh and will also help in balancing the national grid, the minister said. The projects will be implemented through joint venture companies between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. For the Tato-I project, the central government will extend Rs 77.37 crore as budgetary support for the construction of roads, bridges and associated transmission lines under enabling infrastructure besides .
State-owned SJVN on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit during the September quarter remained flat at Rs 439.90 crore. It had posted Rs 439.64 crore profit for the period ended September 2023, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose to Rs 1,108.43 crore from Rs 951.62 crore a year ago. Tata Power on Monday said it has acquired 40 per cent stake in Bhutan-based Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited for Rs 830 crore. "It has today executed the Share Purchase Agreement between the company, existing shareholder of KHPL and KHPL," Tata Power said in an exchange filing. On August 6, the Board of Directors of The Tata Power Company Limited approved a proposal for the acquisition of a 40 per cent equity stake in Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited in one or more tranches. The cost for acquisition of a 40 per cent equity stake in KHPL is around Rs 830 crore, Tata Power had said. Tata Power said it has finalized an agreement with Druk Green Power Company to develop the hydro project in the neighbouring country at an estimated cost of Rs 6,900 crore.

State-owned hydro power giant NHPC on Monday said it has paid a final dividend of Rs 338.51 crore to the Government of India for 2023-24. In addition, an interim dividend of Rs 947.82 crore for 2023-24 was paid on March 5, 2024, aggregating a total dividend of Rs 1,286.33 crore for the entire fiscal year, the company said in a statement. Torrent Power Ltd has emerged as a successful bidder and has received Letter of Intent (LOI) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) on 17th September 2024 for procurement of 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh Energy Storage Capacity from Pumped Hydro Storage Project, the company said in a statement. THDC India on Tuesday said it has signed a pact with the Maharashtra government for harnessing six PSPs (pumped hydro power storage project) totalling 6,790 MW with an investment of over Rs 33,600 crore. State-owned hydro power giant on Wednesday reported a marginal rise in its consolidated net profit of over one per cent to Rs 1,108.46 crore in June 2024 quarter. The company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,095.38 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2023, a BSE filing showed. Total income has increased to Rs 3,037.92 crore in the quarter from Rs 3,010.22 crore in the same period a year ago. State-owned REC Ltd on Wednesday said it will provide a term loan of Rs 1,869 crore for 624 MW Kiru Hydro Electric Project in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir. The loan will be utilized for development, construction and operation of the project on River Chenab, a statement said. According to the statement, REC has signed an agreement with Chenab Valley Power Project Private Ltd (CVPPPL), under which REC will provide CVPPPL with a financial assistance of Rs 1,869.265 crore as term loan. The project envisages construction of a 135-metre high dam and an underground power house with 4 units of 156 MW each. CVPPPL is a joint venture between NHPC (51 per cent) and JKSPDC (49 per cent). Singh visited the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project located in Arunachal Pradesh / Assam on Monday, a power ministry statement said. The minister inspected the Subansiri project construction sites, namely the dam, intake structures and diversion tunnels in Gerukamukh, Assam. The first unit of SJVN's 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) in Uttarakhand has started commercial operations. The first unit of 30 MW capacity achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) today, the company's CMD Nand Lal Sharma said in a statement on Friday. "The unit has at 60 MW project achieved this COD after going through rigorous testing and successful synchronization with the national grid. With this achievement, the company has now furthered its total generation capacity to 2,122 MW from 2,091.50 MW," he said. It is a run of the river project located on river Tons, a major tributary of river Yamuna in Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand with two generating units of 30 MW each.
