Around 40 regional political parties declared a combined income of Rs 2,532.09 crore in the financial year 2023-?24, with more than 70 per cent of their funds coming through electoral bonds, according to an analysis by poll rights body Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) reported the highest income at Rs 685.51 crore, followed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) with Rs 646.39 crore, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) with Rs 297.81 crore, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with Rs 285.07 crore and YSR Congress with Rs 191.04 crore. These top five parties accounted for 83.17 per cent of the total income declared by the 40 regional parties. "The total income of the 40 regional parties for FY 2023-24 was Rs 2,532.096 crore. The declared incomes of registered unrecognised political parties witnessed a 223 per cent spike in 2022-23 and more than 73 per cent of these parties failed to publicly disclose their financial records, according to poll rights body the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Its report analysed the status of submission of annual reports of a total of 739 (26.74 per cent) registered unrecognised parties across 22 states in India, whose either audit or contribution reports were available on the websites of respective state CEOs for the 2022-23 financial year. The Indian community in Singapore has progressed significantly, with national figures showing improvement in areas such as median household income and education, said Minister for Home Affairs and Law K Shanmugam. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said more than 30,000 taxpayers have revised their I-T returns or filed belated returns and declared additional foreign assets and income of about Rs 30,300 crore. "We carried out a 'nudge' campaign in which we nudged taxpayers to voluntarily disclose their Foreign Income and Assets. SMS and E-mails were sent to around 19,501 select taxpayers, asking them to review their Income Tax Returns filed for the 2024-25 based on information available to Income Tax of foreign deposits etc," she said in reply to Finance Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. As a result of the campaign, she said out of 19,501 taxpayers, a total of 11,162 taxpayers revised their returns and filled out Schedule Foreign Assets Form, declaring total assets of Rs 11,259.29 crores disclosing foreign income of Rs 154.42 crore. KP Green Energy on Thursday posted a more than two-fold rise in standalone net profit to Rs 25.17 crore in the December quarter, driven by a growth in income. It had reported a Rs 9.21 net profit for the October-December period of the preceding financial year, the company said in an exchange filing.
