Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated the BJP leaders named in the party's first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, expressing confidence that people will elect it to power again. "We are going to the people on the basis of our track record of good governance and ensuring the fruits of progress reach the poorest of the poor," Modi said in a post on X. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared candidates for some of the seats and will be announcing the remaining names in the coming days, he noted. The ruling BJP on Saturday announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fight again from Varanasi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as it named 34 Union ministers in the first list of 195 candidates. The All India Bar Association (AIBA) on Saturday sought stringent penal action against Google for allegedly spreading false information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a representation, Adish C Aggarwala, Senior Advocate and Chairman of AIBA claimed Gemini, the Artificial Intelligence platform of Google put "highly condemnable false information" in the public domain about the Prime Minister. So, the company committed offences under Indian Penal Code sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc), 500 (defamation), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), it said. "The company being the creator of the machine cannot be allowed to escape the consequences of the damage caused. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled a series of oil and gas sector projects worth about Rs 1.62 lakh crore across the country from Bihar's Begusarai district. The projects are spread across various states like Bihar, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka. The Narendra Modi government has abolished more than 1,550 outdated laws that were troubling citizens, Union Minister Arjun Meghwal said on Saturday. He was speaking at the concluding session of the regional industrial conference underway here. "The Modi government has abolished more than 1,550 unnecessary laws that troubled people and businessmen. Once, there used to be a law to whitewash industrial units to protect workers from diseases. Laws like these that had lost their relevance were scrapped," he said. The Union government has set up separate commercial courts and arbitration centres acting on industry demands, Meghwal added. The Centre has given legal power to arbitrators by making changes in the relevant provisions, the Union law minister said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually laid foundation stones for redevelopment of 45 rail stations in the southern parts of West Bengal under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.' While foundation stones were laid in 22 stations under South Eastern Railway jurisdiction, the same was done for 23 stations under Eastern Railway limits, railway officials said.
