Rajnath dedicates 75 infra projects worth Rs 2,180 cr from eastern Ladakh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday dedicated to the nation 75 infrastructure projects including bridges, roads and helipads built at a cost of Rs 2,180 crore in strategically key areas of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim among others. He inaugurated the projects at a function held at the Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi (DS-DBO) road that provides connectivity to India's northernmost outpost of Daulat Beg Oldi in eastern Ladakh. The highlight of the event was the onsite inauguration of 120-metre-long 'class-70 Shyok Setu' on the DS-DBO Road at an altitude 14,000 feet, the defence ministry said. The bridge will be of strategic importance as it will facilitate logistics movement of the armed forces. Other projects inaugurated virtually by Singh included two helipads, one each in Hanle and Thakung, in Eastern Ladakh, it said. 384 infrastructural projects show cost overruns of Rs 4.52 trillion

As many as 384 infrastructure projects, each entailing an investment of Rs 150 crore or more, have been hit by cost overruns of more than Rs 4.52 lakh crore, as per a report. According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, which monitors infrastructure projects of Rs 150 crore and above, out of 1,529 projects, 384 reported cost overruns and as many as 662 projects were delayed. "Total original cost of implementation of the 1529 projects was Rs 21,25,851.67 crore and their anticipated completion cost is likely to be Rs 25,78,197.18 crore, which reflects overall cost overruns of Rs 4,52,345.51crore (21.28% of original cost)," the ministry's latest report for September 2022 said. According to the report, the expenditure incurred on these projects till September 2022 was Rs 13,78,142.29 crore, or 53.45 per cent of the anticipated cost of the projects. Cabinet approves Rs 6,600 crore scheme 'PM-DevINE' for North-Eastern states

Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), a Rs 6,600 crore scheme to support infrastructure, industries and other livelihood projects in the Northeastern states, was approved on Wednesday by the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The new scheme, to be implemented during the remaining four years of the 15th Finance Commission from 2022-23 to 2025-26, is a 100 per cent Central government-funded plan and will be administered by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), an official statement said. Efforts will be made to complete the PM-DevINE projects by 2025-26 so that there are no committed liabilities beyond this year and this implies front-loading of the sanctions under the scheme in 2022-23 and 2023-24 primarily, it said. President Murmu to arrive in Tripura for two-day visit from Oct 12

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate several development projects in Tripura during her two-day visit to the northeastern state on Wednesday, officials said. The President is scheduled to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport here on Wednesday at 11.15 am. It will be Murmu's first visit to the state after becoming the President. L&T Group aims Rs 2.7 trillion revenue by FY26: Chairman A M Naik

Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Group is targeting Rs 2.7 lakh crore revenue by financial year 2025-26, its Chairman A M Naik said on Thursday. "We are targeting group revenues of Rs 2,70,000 crore...by FY26. The group recorded revenues of Rs 1,56,521 crore during FY 2021-22, registering a growth of 15 per cent," he said at the company's 77th Annual General Meeting (AGM). As of March 31, 2022, the company's order book was at Rs 3,57,595 crore. Currently, the Middle East constitutes 76 per cent of the international order book of Rs 95,227 crore. In 2021-22, profit after tax was Rs 8,572 crore, a year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 23 per cent.
