Govt's AI advisory needs changes, should focus on risky apps: GTRI

The government's advisory on artificial intelligence (AI) needs certain modifications such as a clear definition of "significant platforms", focus on applications with higher risks of spreading misinformation, and a transparent approval process, for the growth of AI technologies in India, a report said on Thursday. "...Misinformation in a vibrant and diverse democracy like ours, can really be very harmful. It can be harmful for society, for democracy, for the electoral process, and it can really impact our future and harmony of the society in a big way. "...So, we have been very categorical in our discussions with the platforms...they have taken many steps, they are continuously .

Google's AI tool Gemini's response to a question around Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in direct violation of IT rules as well as several provisions of the criminal code, minister of state for electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Friday.
