Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is one of the 15 players who have been named in the England squad to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Jonny Bairstow, who made his one-day international debut on 16-Sep-11, had played 59 ODI matches until the 2019 World Cup. In the 54 innings he batted in, he had scored a total of 2118 runs, having faced 2017 balls, at an average of 46.04 and a strike rate of 105.01. He was unbeaten in 8 of those innings. His highest score in an innings was 141*. He had 6 centuries and 8 half-centuries to his name.

Jonny Bairstow is an English cricketer, who plays internationally for England, domestically for Yorkshire, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. A right-hand batsman, he is the only England wicket-keeper twice to claim nine dismissals in a Test match -- against South Africa in January 2016, and against Sri Lanka in May 2016.

In 2016, Bairstow set a new record for the most dismissals (70) by a wicket-keeper in a calendar year. In the same year, Bairstow also set a record for most runs (1,470) in Test matches by a wicket-keeper in a single year. He is the first England cricketer to score three consecutive one-day international hundreds.

Bairstow was a member of the England ODI squad for their match against Ireland in August 2011; however, he was not picked to play. He made his debut the following month after he was called up to the final ODI against India where he scored 41 off just 21 balls. On 17 May 2012, Bairstow made his test debut against West Indies at Lord's. Bairstow was selected in the England squad for the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka but he could not put powerful performance.  Bairstow, however, continued to impress with his wikcet-keeping skills.

Bairstow has been a regular in England team and is feared by bowlers for his hitting ability. It was the tour of South Africa in 2015 that saw Bairstow turning to his best.

The South Africa tour became a highlight in Bairstow's career as he made his maiden Test hundred in Cape Town, was involved in a stunning 399-run stand with Ben Stokes for the sixth wicket and ended the series with 359 runs at an astonishing average of 89.75. 2016 was a year to remember for Bairstow - not just for his 1470 runs at an average of 58.8 but also for his 70 dismissals as a wicket-keeper, a record for the most dismissals by a keeper in a calendar year.

The fact that Buttler still keeps gloves in the shorter forms means that Bairstow's selection purely depends on his batting form.

Bairstow made his IPL debut on 24 March 2019 for SRH against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was no less than a dream start as he continued to impress with his opening partner from Asutralia, David Warner. He also kept wickets for the team. Bairstow scored his maiden IPL hundred 114 (56) against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and became the first keeper-batsmen to score a 100 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bairstow played 10 games for SRH and scored 445 runs at an average of 55.62.
