Puravankara leases 120,000 sq ft retail space to IKEA in Bengaluru

Realty firm Puravankara Ltd has given on lease around 1.2 lakh sq ft retail space to Swedish furniture retailer IKEA in Bengaluru. In a regulatory filing on Monday, the company informed that it has signed an Agreement to Lease (ATL) with IKEA India for leasing of two floors of retail space at the Purva Zentech Park, located on Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru. The project is a mixed-use commercial development with about 9.6 lakh square feet of leasable and saleable area. The project is currently under construction and is slated for completion by early 2026. IKEA India will occupy retail space of more than 1.2 lakh square feet of leasable area across two floors, it said. Real estate consultant Colliers' office services team was the advisor on this transaction. As of September 30, 2025, Puravankara has completed 93 projects totalling 55 million sq ft across nine citiesBengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mangaluru, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, and Goa.

Maharashtra rejects land lease renewal of Jeejeebhoy Trust in Mumbai

Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has rejected the proposal for renewal of the government land lease held by Jeejeebhoy Trust, a prominent charitable organisation, at Mazgaon in Mumbai, officials said. Some business entities were attempting to occupy government land under the pretext of the trust and such attempts should be stopped, MLC Sachin Ahir of the Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) has claimed. Bawankule on Wednesday directed that the amount deposited by the trust or its developer in an irregular manner be refunded, the officials said. A meeting on the issue was held on Wednesday at the minister's office. Ahir, NCP MLC Amol Mitkari, Mumbai City Collector Aanchal Goyal and other officials attended it through video conferencing. Maha govt to allow tribal farmers to lease land to private firms: Minister

Tribal farmers in Maharashtra will soon be able to lease their land to private entities for agricultural purposes or mineral excavation, which will enable them to generate additional income, state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said. Officials said the move would not only provide tribals an opportunity to have a steady source of income but also safeguard their ownership rights. Talking to reporters in Gadchiroli on Friday evening, Bawankule said, "A law will be brought soon. I am telling you this before its official announcement. Under this policy, tribal farmers will be able to lease out their land directly to private parties for agricultural purposes or mineral excavation." At present, tribal farmers are not permitted to independently enter into lease agreements with private entities. Comprehensive land reforms key for India to become manufacturing hub: CII

Industry body CII on Sunday pitched for comprehensive land reforms such as the formation of a GST-like Council to enable coordinated and consensus-based reforms and uniform stamp duty rates of 3 to 5 per cent across the country for India to become a global manufacturing hub. While protectionism and trade wars pose a challenge, India's stable policy framework, strong industrial capabilities, large domestic market and a young workforce, coupled with its reputation as a trusted and capable partner among many nations, set it up as an attractive investment destination, it stated. Foreign firms lease 62% of office space in India's top 9 cities: CBRE

Foreign companies rented 111.6 lakh sq ft office space in January-March this year across nine major cities, contributing 62 per cent to the total demand, according to CBRE. Real estate consultant CBRE data showed that the gross leasing of office space rose 5 per cent to 180 lakh sqft in January-March across nine cities as against 171 lakh sqft in the year-ago period. Global corporates accounted for 62 per cent of office space leasing. Out of 180 lakh sqft gross leasing of office space, foreign firms rented 111.6 lakh sqft while domestic firm 68.4 lakh sqft. Birla Estates buys land in Pune, to build Rs 2,500 cr housing project

Realty firm Birla Estates Pvt Ltd on Monday said it has acquired a 16.5-acre land parcel in Pune to a develop a housing project with an estimated revenue potential of Rs 2,500 crore. Birla Estates is a 100 per cent wholly-owned subsidiary of Century Textiles and Industries Ltd and the real estate venture of the Aditya Birla Group. Greater Noida board hikes land allocation rates by 5.30% for FY25

The board of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) on Saturday approved a proposal to increase land allocation rates by 5.30 per cent for 2024-25 fiscal, according to an official statement. Several developmental projects, including the Greater Noida West Metro, Multimodal Logistics Hub, and Transport Hub, are coming to Greater Noida and Greater Noida West (also known as Noida Extension), the GNIDA said. "In view of these developmental projects, property allocation rates are determined for each financial year. The board has approved the proposal to increase the current allocation rates for industrial, residential, commercial, institutional, and builder properties by 5.30 per cent for the fiscal year 2024-25," it said. Space leasing for light manufacturing activities rises 23% in 2023: C&W

Leasing of industrial space for light manufacturing activities rose 23 per cent last year to 15.9 million square feet across eight major cities due to favourable government policies, according to Cushman & Wakefield. The leasing of industrial space stood at 12.91 million square feet in the calendar year 2022. Real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) on Thursday released its annual Logistics and Industrial report (L&I) report, which showed that Pune and Chennai accounted for 53 per cent and 24 per cent of the total leasing of industrial space in 2023 across eight major cities.
