The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to West Bengal BJP functionary Priyanka Sharma who was arrested on May 10 for allegedly posting a morphed picture of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Facebook."Subject to Priyanka Sharma tendering an apology in writing for putting up an objectionable picture on Facebook account, she shall be immediately released. Drug major Aurobindo Pharma Tuesday said various US states have filed a second lawsuit accusing it along with other companies in the US generic drug industry for violating antitrust laws by fixing prices. "On May 10, 2019, the Attorney General of the State of Connecticut and additional Attorneys' General of various US states filed a second lawsuit in Federal Court similarly alleging that Aurobindo and other companies in the US generic drug industry had violated antitrust laws by fixing prices and allocating customers (the "Second State AG Action")," the company said in a regulatory filing. "The Second State AG Action includes additional parties and additional products which were not referenced in the First State AG Action," the filing added. A businessman was allegedly kidnapped and killed by some persons who later burnt the body at a forest in Palghar district of Maharashtra to hide the crime, police said on Tuesday. Three persons were arrested and a woman was detained in this connection, police spokesperson Hemant Katkar said. The police suspect the killing to be a fallout of professional rivalry, he said. Arif Shaikh, a resident of Mira Road in the neighbouring Thane district, was a supplier of machinery spare parts and owned a factory in Palghar. A fast-track court here has sentenced a man to five years in jail for abetting wife's suicide. Judge Balraj Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Ajay Kumar. The woman's father-in-law Balbir Singh and mother-in-law Nirmala Devi were acquitted due to the lack of evidence, the prosecution said. Kumar's wife Pushpa had hanged self to death due to harassment for dowry at Jansath in the district on July 31, 2011. A 35-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her three children, and herself over a family dispute at Kidwai Nagar in the district, police said Tuesday. According to SHO Anil Kaperwan, the woman and her nine-year-old son died while her two daughters, aged six and 10, were rushed to a hospital in a serious condition on Monday night. The woman first gave poison to her children and then herself took it, he said.
Delhi Police has arrested an alleged terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammad carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh from Srinagar, officials said Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Abdul Majeed Baba, a resident of Magrepora district of Sopore, they said. The arrest was made on Saturday evening from Soura in downtown Srinagar, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said.
