Sweden's Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Eva-Marie Persson has decided to reopen a 2010 case against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.According to the official document, the prosecutor will request a European Arrest Warrant for Assange along with a detention order to Uppsala District Court as the alleged crime took place in Enkoping municipality.Assange is currently serving 50 weeks imprisonment sentence in UK's Belmarsh prison and the US is seeking his extradition on charges of conspiracy to hack into a classified government computer.

A passenger was held at the Pune Lohegaon International Airport early Monday morning for allegedly trying to smuggle gold by hiding it in his rectum, said Custom Officials. He said Abdur Rahim Khateeb, who had flown in from Dubai, was stopped in the basis of suspicion and then checked, an official said. "He had concealed gold paste weighing 664.04 grams in his rectum. The gold content in the paste was assessed at 533 grams valued at Rs 16,71,983," said the official.

A man, detained in a case of theft, allegedly committed suicide in a police station in Rajasthan's Ajmer disctrict on Monday, police said. The incident occurred in Pisangan Police Station when Mangilal, aged around 40 years, hanged himself in the bathroom, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ajmer, K Rastradeep said. He said Mangilal was detained in a case of theft and brought to the police station on Monday morning. Taking action in the matter, SHO of Pisangan Police Station Laxman Singh and four others were suspended while and some other policemen were shunted to police lines, the SP said. A BJP polling agent was arrested for allegedly trying to influence voters at a polling booth in Haryana's Palwal after a video of the purported act went viral, prompting the Election Commission to order re-polling. In a statement on Monday, the poll panel said, "On enquiry by the Observer, the complaint was found to be true. Commission has therefore ordered a fresh poll at this polling station on May 19." The incident took place at Asawati village in the Faridabad parliamentary constituency where polling was held on May 12. The couple arrived at the Enforcement Directorate's headquarters in Khan Market here shortly before their scheduled appearance time of 11 am, official sources said. They were allowed to leave just before 8 pm, they said. A woman, working at a salon in Greater Noida, was thrashed in public by at least three men, including her employer, over the salary issue. Police said they have arrested the main accused in the case. A video of the incident purportedly showing the men beating the woman with sticks and manhandling her publicly also surfaced on social media. Some passers-by were seen filming the attack but no one came to the rescue of the woman. A Rajasthan Police constable was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 in Barmer district of the state, an ACB officer said on Monday. Dharmpal Singh, posted with Nagana Police Station, was demanding money from a taxi driver Ramlal in return for settling an alleged case against him, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officer said. "A passenger had forgotten his mobile phone in Ramlal's taxi. Upon finding it, the driver had returned the device but the accused constable threatened to lodge a case against him," the officer added. The ACB verified the complaint and laid a trap. The accused constable was arrested while accepting the money and booked under the prevention of corruption act.

The NHRC Monday sent a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the state's police chief over the reported gang rape of a widowed domestic help following which she set herself on fire. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said if the content of a news report is true, the incident amounts to gross violation of human rights of the woman. "The NHRC has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that a widow in her late 20s was allegedly sold by her father and aunt for Rs 10,000, gang raped by her keeper and his friends, and then turned away by police when she approached them for help," the rights panel said in a statement. A 26 year-old man has been arrested for allegedly supplying illegal fire arms to gangsters in Delhi and Haryana, police said Monday. The accused, identified as Sumit Kharab, a resident of Mundhela Khurd village near Jaffarpur area here, was nabbed on Sunday, the day Delhi went to polls, they said. The woman who lodged a rape case against former Goa minister and Congress' Panaji bypoll nominee Atanasio Monserratte has gone missing from a rehabilitation facility here, police said on Monday. Verna police inspector Sandesh Chodankar said the woman, who charged Monserratte with drugging and raping her in 2016 when she was a minor, was undergoing rehabilitation at a facility in South Goa district from where she went missing on April 28. Last month, a missing person complaint was lodged and later on May 10, the police registered an FIR for offence of abduction against an unknown person, Chodankar said, adding that efforts were on to trace the woman.
