Cong seeks info of officials who violated norms to benefit BJP in MP polls

Madhya Pradesh Congress has written a letter to all its 230 candidates who contested the just held state assembly polls, seeking details of officials who allegedly worked against rules to benefit the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP, however, said the Congress, with such a move, was trying to find a new excuse for its imminent defeat in the elections. In the letter addressed to all its candidates, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) claimed the control room set up on the polling day (November 17) received complaints about officials and employees working against rules to provide benefit to the BJP. ECI orders re-polling at a booth in MP's Ater Assembly seat on Tuesday

The Election Commission of India has ordered re-polling on November 21 at a booth in Ater assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, according to an official release. Repolling has been ordered because of breach of secrecy as some people shot videos of voting on November 17 at the booth concerned in Kishupura, a district official said. Four members of the polling team have been suspended for the breach of secrecy, district collector and returning officer Sanjeev Shrivastava said. Voting will be held on Tuesday at booth number 3 under polling centre number 71 at Kishupura between 7 am and 6 pm, the release said, adding that indelible ink will be applied on the middle finger of voters. Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Sunday ended his sit-in protest outside Khajuraho police station in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh against the death of a party worker during Assembly polls held on November 17. A Congress worker identified as Salman Khan died after being run over by a car during a clash with Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries in Rajnagar Assembly seat. 77.15% voter turnout in MP assembly polls; 1.52% higher compared to 2018

Madhya Pradesh assembly polls have recorded a voter turnout of 77.15 per cent, which is 1.52 per cent higher than in 2018, as per the latest data released by the Election Commission of India. Polling for all the 230 assembly seats in the state was held in a single phase on November 17. According to the latest provisional poll data for Madhya Pradesh released by the ECI on Saturday night, the state recorded a voter turnout of 77.15 per cent. Out of the total male voters in MP, 78.21 per cent exercised their franchise, while out of the total eligible females, 76.03 per cent turned up to vote. Sailana assembly seat in Ratlam district recorded the highest voter turnout at 90.10 per cent, while Jobat seat in Alirajpur district in the state's western region saw the lowest turnout of 54.37 per cent, as per the data. MP assembly polls: Cash, drugs, jewellery worth Rs 340 crore seized

Cash worth Rs 40.18 crore and liquor, drugs, jewellery and other items cumulatively valued at nearly Rs 300 crore were seized in Madhya Pradesh since the model code of conduct for the state assembly elections came into force on October 9, a top official has said. Polls to 230 assembly seats in the state were held on Friday, while the counting of votes will be taken up on December 3. A voter turnout of nearly 76 per cent was recorded. Talking to reporters on Friday, state Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said continuous action was taken by the enforcement agencies across the state since the code of conduct came into force after the poll schedule was declared. Nearly 76% turnout recorded in assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh

A voter turnout of nearly 76 per cent was recorded in assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, a senior official said.
